I've used those Tek self drilling/self tapping screws for years. I keep some of various sizes at the house for those times when you decide to do a project and all you are missing is some way to attach something. And here is a little experience tip....If you are attaching something to a piece of metal that is kind of thick....3/16 to maybe 1/4" thick, I will drill a pilot hole into it first with a regular drill bit that is smaller than what the Tek screw will drill. I've found that even though the Tek screws have a drill bit head on them, they will sometimes give it up before you are finished drilling the piece.
