Carpet removed

Finally got sick of the carpet always being dirty and made a change.

Wife and I are pleased with the outcome, this should be much easier to keep clean.

Looks real good from here! My step-daughter and husband are in the middle of ripping out and adding stickdown vinyl in a 15 year old camper.

It does look good. I would get some vinyl runners to put under the slide when retracting/extending. Carpet was used as a “glide” and I have seen lots of nice floors marred by the slide.

I put down premium interlocking vinyl (the strip things) and it got scratched first time slide in/out. I use 1/4" plywood strips where it rubs. Strips are about 6" wide and about 3' long and two go at ends of slide and two towards the middle.

The vinyl was under the carpeting, just had to remove the carpet and clean what was there.

Chuckster, where should I get the vinyl runners and where should add them? I already scratched the floor where a screw head was protruding from the bottom of the slide.

I fixed that by counterboring so the screw was flush. Checked all o the slides and nothng else was protruding.

Here is a sample:

Depending on length of slide you might need 4 or 5.

Installed vinyl plank flooring in 2010 Cougar 30 Fifth Wheel, by removing doubled over carpet under slide inner threshold .........seem to be getting additional friction on the slide movement,
It seems the carpet under slide lip was providing less friction and a bit of lift on deployment and retract of the slide.
Any recommendations to avoid scratching vinyl or smoothing out friction on slide movement with carpet strip removed. Hate to put folded over old carpet back under the lip of slide but if it will move better will do.

I use four 6" wide and 3' long pieces of VERY thin plywood and put them under the slide when I pull it in where the scratches happened on mine. The scratches were right on the ends of the slide for the most part and very light scratches towards the middle. I bring the slide in about 18" and it tilts up just a tad then slide in the plywood slats. No more scratches.
