If the "clearance" problem is between the top of the truck bed sides and the bottom of the fifth wheel overhang (king pin area), then you might consider another option... switching out the bed of the truck for something that is not as tall. There are always trade-off when you make decisions like these, for sure. But considering the cost of a new truck and possibly higher payments, replacing the existing bed for something different, just MIGHT be a better alternative.

Either way you go, good luck! Enjoy! These ARE the good times!

We towed our 24RDS with a '14 GMC 1500. Pulled better than my 3500 Dually the year before. In Montana even. Have fun and welcome! You'll love the OTG. Sold ours for other reasons. But miss the solar

Thanks for the input. We've been convinced that we will be happy with the 450. We shall see, pick it up maybe Wed.

Welcome from North Texas! Yup, you will be glad you kept your 450. You will have NO weight issues, and be able to “carry” pretty much what you want. You will want 6 inches of clearance from the top of your bed rails to the bottom of your trailer. This usually can be achieved by adjusting the hight on your hitch, or the position of your trailer pin up or down, or a combination of both. Good advice from the other folks about the checklists and taking your time on your PDI. Have the dealer fix issues before signing any paperwork. Finding a good dealer is essential. All warranty will go through them so hopefully you have a good one. Happy Camping!!

Yes please look at everything on the Cougar after picking ours up many problems and they would not fix them! Check water system especially we had many leaks from connection to sinks and hot water tanks!

You won't avoid it by going with a 250.

Advice on the PDI, record the PDI with your cell phone. There will be a lot to go over and YOU WILL FORGET. Having a video to go back and review can save you a lot of agony.
