Water heater bypass valve leaking

How reliable are the water heater bypass valves? I have a 2018 Laredo 225MK and the bypass valve is leaking. At the dealer to get it repaired/replaced under warranty. Is this something I should keep on hand or replace on a scheduled interval?

I also have a leak with the black tank flush they are supposed to fix.
Is it worth having the BT flush as opposed to using a wand in the toilet?
