Another Cold Morning

I woke up this morning to -8*F and the high today is forcast to be 18. It's going to be below 32*F consistently until Saturday and we have snow forcasted then. It will be clear with no snow through the week. Fortunately, it looks like the storm that will dump 6-8" of fresh snow on Mikell and others in SW Michigan will stay to the south and miss us. However, the groundhog and the weatherman both forcasted an "early spring" so I'm making no bets on how much I have to shovel this week.

COME ON SPRING !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Traditionally, St Patty's Day is the last snowstorm of the season and spring takes hold around then. For those without a calendar handy, that's 13 days from now. Let's watch and wish for signs of spring around the upper tier, but this week doesn't look real promising above the 45th parallel.....

It's not looking very good in Virginia this Wednesday either. But I'm the kind of guy who looks at the last few drops in the bottom of the glass and exclaims " look! There's still some there!"

JRTJH -

Hmm, looks like it's going to get up around 72 today in Alexandria. And only a few more weeks until crawfish season!

JRTJH-
By now, you should know that there are 3 "people" you never believe - groundhogs, weathermen (and weatherwomen), and those involved in politics. (Whoops - a censored subject on the forum ).

Move north and west of the 45th. Brilliant sunshine and almost balmy here today.

I've been told by some of the "early diehards" down around Ville Platte that the crawfish are going to be extraordinarily plentiful and very big this year. Apparently the winter was perfect and the tiny grass shoots are already starting to pop up. It looks like a possible quick trip down (if I can get the trailer out of storage) in April for a couple of crawfish boils. It's been a while since my last "newspaper on the table and Dixie beer" extravaganza.

They also say that crappie season is almost over and the big river cat are moving into the shallows on the Achafalaya.

I sometimes do miss that "whole 'nother country" called the Cajun Capitol.

you know, down where they call anybody born north of Interstate 10 a "damn yankee"

Yes, Festus2, all three of those do bear considerable watching...................

Yes, I saw on the weather station that nearly everywhere from Orange, TX all the way over to the Florida panhandle was in the 20's yesterday morning. BRRRRR And, looks like another year of high OJ prices LOL Oh well, that'll go along with the high diesel and gas prices. Now if only they could make an engine that runs on "homebrew"..... Hmmmmmmm
