Golden Colorado lies 15 miles west of Denver off I70 and is famous as the home of Coors Beer (which combined operations with Miller in 2007). Though, in our opinion, the town is very nice it offers nothing unique in shops or restaurants. However, there are a number if well done sculptures throughout the town that are worth seeing.
The immediate area offers 4 well worthwhile venues.
Coors brewing facility – free tours available
http://www.millercoors.com/Brewery-T...wery-Tour.aspx
Colorado Railroad Museum – Adult $10, Family $20
http://coloradorailroadmuseum.org/
If you have younger children be sure to check out the Thomas the Train Rides.
Colorado School of Mines Geology Museum – free admission
http://www.mines.edu/Geology_Museum
National Renewable Energy Lab – Visitor Center
http://www.nrel.gov/visiting_nrel/visitors_center.html
If you are familiar with renewable energy technology this may not be a worthwhile visit as you only tour the Visitor Center.
Golden has a City campground, Clear Creek RV Campground
http://www.cityofgolden.net/play/rec...creek-rv-park/ , which has 22 full hookup sites. The only caveat is that sites are first come first served, no reservations.
