If there is any corrosion on the base contacts or on the bulb, it will create resistance and increase heat. A loose bulb from an out of round connector or from "short contacts" on the bulb base or loose contact springs in the fixture will also increase heat and cause the bulb to fail prematurely.
If you can't find anything wrong with grounds, you may want to replace the light fixture or if you are handy, replace the base inside the fixture.
Another possible fix, replace the bulb with a LED. There's less heat, less current flow and most likely longer life. You can buy a LED on EBay for about the same thing as a couple of incandescent bulbs you keep replacing now.
