Cowboy boots

I still like pointed toe cowboy boots..medium toe. I have 4 pair of Noconas with medium toes and cowboy heels. Two awesome full quill ostrich, an antiqued cowhide, and regular cowhide. They're the best thing ever for driving a pickup. That tapered heel lays flat on the floorboard and pivots perfect on the gas and brake pedal. I like my boots a bit looser than most. My feet sweat and swell and get stuck if not loose. Son only wears square toe. I tell him he's a fashion slave. If people ask about my ranch I tell 'em it's the Los Bebe Pina we have about 30,000.
Pine trees.
What say y'all?

Boots! Ahh, sounds like my territory. Gave up pointed boots when I got gout decades ago and the taper just killed my feet.

I loved my Noconas until they seemed like they changed hands or something. Decided to go with Justin ropers. Loved my cowboy heels until all my knee damage could not take the height of the heels so went to the roper height.

My favorite pair of boots was a pair of Sanders (no longer). Got all kinds of leather and styles but now (I no longer dress up or even try to look proper) I wear Justin semi round toed work boots. With them I walk in muck, water....and inside. Just a country boy that hasn't worn anything but boots most of my life.

I'm kind of like Danny, loved the pointy toed and cowboy heels, but after my 3rd back operation had to give them up for Justin Ropers.

I just threw away a pair of Wolverines I had from work. Chinese rubber sole disentegrated. They were steel toe but so broke in I wore em around the house barefoot. Especially summertime for snake protection. Betty said I look like young Sheldon in shorts and boots.
I've had 3 back surgeries too. Don't know if I'd go on a 20 mile hike in Noconas but around the house, driving, occasional community meeting, funerals, they work good.
I did have a pair of Justin ropers that I occasionally wore to work. No steel toe though.

Have you ever tried Ariats? I'm kind of a "stick with what brung you guy" and always saw them on the boot store and considered them "upstarts". Little brother and I always wore the Justins and one day he said he had switched to Ariat. Didn't pay it no mind.

We were in FL 2 years ago and got a call that my GD had died in LA. Now I don't travel with fancy clothes; gave away 24 suits, 16 sport coats and can't tell you how many pairs of dress pants when I retired...never to go back. Well, wore out jeans and a t shirt wasn't going to work for the funeral so went to get different clothes and had to have something other than my Justin's or tennis shoes. Went to every "boot" store in Tallahassee (don't think this is "boot country") trying to find something suitable. I ended up with a pair of Ariat semi work/casual boots that are actually pretty nice. Course, I've worn them maybe a couple of times since then.....I like my broke in, wore out Justins...

Our local boot store carries Ariat. I looked at them a couple times but never pulled the trigger on them. I have a somewhat skinny foot and discovered I could wear a D width in Nacona but not many other brands. Actually tried a C width and that was tight.
I keep the black ostrich for more formal stuff. The brown ostrich were originally Cognac color and I had them dyed more brown to get away from that orange look. I wear them more frequent because that ostrich is tough but breathable.
Once I got my size I bought them on line at Sheplers.

Man all you guys are from Texas. I'm from Michigan and have worn boots exclusively since the early 70's. I'm 76 and haven't had to change to Ropers yet. The last 20 yrs or so have been Dan Post. Yea as you get older the long walks in them get shorter, so when we hike I wear hiking boots

Boots? I've got a pair of 511 Tacticals I use for yard work, a Pair of insulated snow boots, and pair of waterproof over boots. Oh, COWBOY Boots. No, my15 EEEE feet don't fit in them and at 6'3" I don't need high heels. Around here you only see cowboy boots on Halloween.

Well now I've PO'd a bunch of people!

I currently have 2 pair of Lucchese; one full quill ostrich and one European goat.

I love them, they are the most comfortable foot wear I own and they were purchased in the early 90s.

The DW and I spent 24 hours in Amsterdam, on our way to Belgium and Germany and 7 of those hours were walking around in the ostrich boots.

The DW bought me a pair of Ariat ropers and they are also very comfortable.

My family moved to Texas, from Canada, in 1963, when I was just a kid and I acquired my first pair of cowboy boots shortly after that.

Worked in boots, pointed toe Lucchese when making sales calls and Redwing when working in the field with my men/women, yes, steeltoe mostly. Years of big boats brought about deck shoes, so now it is Irish Setter Lakeside and Timberland. I generally wear nothing else, wouldn't own a pair of 'sneakers' for love nor money, and I own no socks. A true child of the 60's.
However, I will say that regardless of where you're from, there is something about a good pair of boots and a cheap pair of Wranglers, boot cut.

The Republic of Maryland probably has a law against cowboy boots.

My neighbor wears Lucchese ropers. I've looked at them a bit. I think they used to have a shop at Intercontental Airport Houston and I would waste some time in there. Price tag is a little scary but they ARE well made. Get what you pay for.

For my experience everything in an airport shop of any kind is about 3 times the price of any other shop.

I wore these for the better part of 40 years. A number of times actually wore them for over 48 hours before getting off work. Once they formed to your foot, more comfortable than sneakers. They list for $482 now and that's about what I paid for them the last time i bought my last pair, about 4 years before I retired.

It's The People's Republic of Maryland thank you very much! If we don't have a law against them I'd be surprised.

According to my in-laws from the Mt Savage area, Maryland has a law against everything (including hunting on Sunday) and a tax on everything, including the rain. Beat that if you can.

The folks I bought my Bigfoot from in Middletown (Middleton?) Maryland called it The Socialist Republic of Maryland. But I'm NOT calling it that OK?
I thought it ironic that whenever I travel through Maryland that I stop in WINCHESTER Virginia and unload the guns.
Somebody voted them in.
End of story and not looking to start something.

When I worked in a oilfield in south Texas I was pretty much on my own supervising and inspecting the installation of nat gas compressors. My boss in Houston decided to come down and check on me one day. He stepped out with a pair of those logger boots. I didn't say anything but one of the guys said "boy you think you have enough boot?"
He liked them. Looked like good rattlesnake protection too.

I rode up to Nashville with the missus on our bike a few years ago and the boot shops up there had buy one pair, get two free. I got 3 pairs of Ariats and still wear them to this day. There have been resoles on a couple pair but the other I save to be buried in. I had a pair of snakeskins I got at the Mexican flea market in San Antonio and wore them riding the bike till the snakeskin got wore out from the shifter. I took them to the saddle shop and had leather sewn across the uppers of the toe area. Looked pretty good but eventually the snakeskin on the heels and sides wore out so they were retired to the dumpster. I have had Justins but was not impressed.

They live in the good part out in Western Md. This thread has reminded me of a desk statue I bought back in the 1990's. I worked for a Retailer based in Dallas and flew out there frequently. I bought the desk statue for a gal out there who worked for me. It was a pair of cowboy boots with a ten gallon hat on top. A sign next to the boots read " A Texan with the sh** kicked out of him".

They got a laugh out it and I will say they were all a great bunch of people that I miss to this day. A few I've kept in touch over the years as well.
