New Owner 2012 Passport 238ML!

Just made my maiden boondocking trip in our new 238ML"bouncy: We upgraded from a Evolution E3 popup with the toy hauler deck. I tow with an 05 Land Rover LR3 which did great heading up into the mountains of Arizona. Love the light weight and features so far!

I now have a nice list of desired upgrades, first on the list is a mattress pad!

Our last TTer was an 08 280BH Passport. We bought a memory foam topper and cut it to size and also put a layer of plain foam under that. That worked out nicely.

I ordered up the memory foam plus topper from camping world which was on sale for ~ $100. I do like my sleep when I'm camping.

Next project is to get my 2x6v AGM batteries installed that I used on my prior rig. I had them mounted inside in a self contained and vented custom battery box under one of the bench seats.

hello, i just bought a foam mattress from mattressinsider.com. it is 5 1/2" thick and cost $347.00 i tried pads but still woke up achy.. this mattress was impressive for the price. check it out. i like mine.

Hi Craig, I just returned from my maiden voyage in my 2012 Passport 238ML and love it! I couldn't agree with you more on the mattress though. Let me know how yours turns out and I may do the same with my bed.

Welcome Craig. Glad to hear all went well. I'm picking up our new 238ML Saturday! I sent you and PK friend requests since we all have the same camper. Figure it never hurts to have someone else to ask that has the same setup. Hopefully we can help each other solve any issues that have us confused.

If there are a number of members who have the same or similar RV's, you can always form a "social group". Just recently, a group of campers who pull with a Toyota Tundra formed such a group and they exchange ideas within their small network.
If you look at the top of the Home Page, click on Community and then on Social Groups, this will bring you to the Home Page of that network.
Something to consider rather than posting on the forum and exchanging ideas and asking questions which pertain to only a small group of members ?????

Hello new 238 owners! I'm getting ready to go out again in a couple of weeks. I still love mine!

I don't like the mattress with the pillow top upgrade. I think someone already mentioned a better route is to get a thicker mattress to begin with! I'll probably switch mine out sometime too.

Will a standard Queen matress like you use at home fit the platform? If so, that might be the best solution.

Judging by the floor plan and the pictures I’ve seen, there’s room. You’d just need to replace the hinged plywood at the foot of the bed so it extends farther off the pedestal. And the curtain probably won’t go around the extended bed, though it looks like it can drape out over the foot of the bed. Standard Queen is about 5 inches longer. Just keep weight in mind. A standard Queen home mattress will weigh quite a bit more than the el-cheapo that came with the trailer, and that’ll add to the tongue weight.

Like night and day, the difference after adding a 2.5 inch gel memory foam topper purchased from Costco. Cut 5 inches off for the RV queen size and only added 29 lbs to our weight. Now we look forward to going to bed and sleeping through the night.
