magnet gouged wheel hub

I have to order a 7000 lb hub . The brake assembly looks good other then magnict gouged the hub . I'm trying to figure out what happened . The other 3 where worn smooth like the hub. I think when the brakes is used it activates the mag and sets the brakes.

Hey Roadglide, Check around local auto repair shops or auto parts machine shops. some brake drum lathes can refinish the magnet surface of the drum/hub. maybe we can manage to meet up at Q'site this year. I think it is your turn to buy . it was my turn last year.-----Lou----

Had to have all four drums turned about six years ago due to damage from greased brakes. I was located at the time just north of Fresno, CA. The people at Redneck Trailer Supply said that in the entire city, there were only two shops that had the capacity to turn electric brake drums with the armature surface that the magnet contacts. I was lucky that the armature surfaces only needed a slight cleanup. If there is too much damage to that surface, it is usually recommended to replace the drum instead of turning. So, definitely call around before taking the drums in so you don't waste a trip.

Bobbecky I found a guy working out of quansonhut cramed full of machinist tools my small town . I was told it's a dying trade . I was why the left side magnets went out . I though about and remembered when I got my impact home left side wires where rubbed into from the tire . I sent pics to the dealer and repaired it my self I'm thinking the damage was already done from towing to the dealer . I overlooked it not having experience with ele brakes.
