Finally new Ram dually

After loading the Bigfoot heavy for a winter trip and discovering I was way too heavy, I ordered a new Ram dually the first week of February. Salesman said the last one ordered came in in less than 4 weeks. Told him we were leaving first week of April for a long trip east. It was supposedly built Feb 12 and ready for shipping. It arrived last week.
I ordered it just like the SRW, except I got the 3.73 rear ratio instead of 3.42. Took delivery this afternoon. I'm impressed. It actually "seems" to ride softer than the SRW. Feels just a bit snappier off the line. I've got 100 miles on it and still taking it easy. Will do a few full throttle blasts soon.

Congrats Brent! And Bigfoot pushed you over? I knew it was going to happen. Hadn't been long and you were stove up, and now it looks like you're getting back to full steam! Have a great time and enjoy!

Yeah Danny it was either get more truck or get rid of the Bigfoot. Loaded heavy I was over the tire limits, rear axle limit. and way over GVWR. I drained water down and rescaled and got right on axle and tire limits. I just can't travel like that...worrying about a blow out or axle failure.
Payload capacity went from 4018# on the SRW, to 5406# on the dually. Plenty.
Now I can use the Bigfoot as I wanted and we have the flexibility on making a 5th trade if we decide to.
I was parked near a Heartland Landmark at the Richmond NASCAR race. Jeez that thing was nice looking. Full body paint and stored outside. Looked brand new.
I'm pretty good after the back surgery. I will admit that long days in the seat took it's toll though. One day that was supposed to be 5 hours became 10 hours. I-81 shutdown and had to detour through Roanoke VA. It was 18 wheeler gridlock. Next long trip will have a 2 day layover rather than day after day on the road.

Having been the recipient of many of our wondrous (maybe miraculous) surgeries I can tell you that you never will come back like God made you. They all leave you with limitations and problems. Learn them and find a way to accommodate them. I wish you great fun.

Yeah I should have listened to Javi 2 years ago on the dually issue. But I didn't have the Bigfoot and the SRW was good with the 5th.
Crow tastes pretty good with enough salt. LOL
I'll spend most of the day setting up the computer in the truck. I studied COBOL and RPG programming 50 years ago but might need our daughter for technical assistance!

Man, don't think we didn't catch that " making a 5th trade if we decide to" phrase you slid in on us earlier. You might as well just get to the shopping. It won't be long....

Yeah Jim we're looking. Mostly used DRV and Landmarks. Or truthfully about anything with full body paint and a heavier suspension.
We get a stock market pop in the next 12-18 months I'll be hard to stop.

Hey you dually owners....I've never had a dually or been a truck driver. I'm scratching my head over the tire valves. I've heard of extensions but not really sure about them. Are they just used for checking pressure and inflating? In other words, are they permanently installed or just used to connect to my Schrader valves. I bought a 4.5" Milton extension today on Amazon. Local auto supplies didn't have much. I've seen 18 wheelers with braided hoses permanently installed. Don't think I need those.
Yeah I was a machinery specialist for an international oil company and I can fall off a log pretty easy.

Congrats on the new six pack wheel towing unit! Check out my signature line.....the part that starts Excessive. I put valve extenders on mine after I bought it. 6 or 7" inch braided stainless hose on the inners that come out to the outer wheel. I made my own little brackets for them to attach to the outer wheel. So far, so good.....they are functional, they don't leak, and they make it very easy to check tire pressure.
