Don't know where you're headed, but if it's any where near central Arizona leave that white crap where it's at. Seeing it in pictures is as close as I ever want to be ever again.

x2^^^ Used to think it was nice, played in it, loved to sit by the fire and BE in it; now, whether it's age or just being lazy, I don't want to deal with all the "stuff" required to stay in snow. So, as I've said in other posts, I will go to it if I want to see it, touch it and leave.

For those trapped here's a little article to give you hope that there's "life out there somewhere" - it's happening in places already and we're in one - the azaleas are profoundly pretty......

So glad I moved out of Michigan. Here in East Tennessee its been beautiful. Trees have bloomed leaves and bulb flowers have sprung up all over. Getting the cold snap with this latest round of not so great weather but nothing like you have up there.

Yes the Poconos really are nice. Used to love the winter here when I skied. It really is a four season resort area. Just can't wait to get out of here with all this snow.

So you ran the "ho chi minh trail"...Rt 209 from I-80 to I-84! Not anymore...closed to semi's now.

Thanks for the good words on my pooch. We do lots of K9 SAR training in the Delaware Water Gap and the DWG NRA. Yes Jeter is my buddy. Here are several pics during a couple recent training sessions.

Regards,
Mike

We are currently on storm #2 in the past week. The first wasn't as bad as the coast but still 10" of that @#$%. Storm #2 is continuing and so far there is about 8" of a concrete consistency snow and a bit more coming today then again on Friday. Our two poodlepups love it but bring in snowballs on their fur several times a day - grrrrr

Even the snow which 'happens' in the Northeast wouldn't be too bad if my snow blower hadn't destroyed the auger gear after moving about 6 feet into last weeks storm. Parts are on the way as there were none for an ancient Agway/Murray clunker locally

I wore out an 8HP Murray blower in 5 years. So, I bought a new Arien's snow blower this past fall. I thought (hopefully) that with a new snow blower, winter would be kind to us. Not so, between the new one (that's now well broken in) and the 3 point blower on my tractor, I've moved "tons too much" snow this winter. We've got nearly 14" on the ground this storm and 2 more days of predicted snowfall before a "partly sunny day".... HURRY SPRING !!!!!

My wife constantly reminds me that I never put the 48" 3 point blower on the tractor last fall. I was an early December flu 'victim' and it just never happened. This means that the little Murray has had to do the job. It is on the third engine in its 25+/- years. The original Tecumseh never started or ran right after a couple years of the now gone MTBE gas. The next was an early Harbor Freight Predator that 'blew' up. The current engine is a late HF Predator and works way way better then the original or second engines. That original auger gear was steel but the new $50 gear will be bronze which to me means that this snow blower will probably soon end up in the dump's metals recycle bin if it fails again. I have new skid shoes and have redrilled the auger shear pin bolt holes 90 degrees around the slip on auger (not their drive shaft) that were wallowed out. Yes, it is about had it. but maybe it will last this and one more year.

That's the kind of snowblower that never seems to "completely die"... I had an old Montgomery Wards 8HP 2 stage blower when we lived in Marquette. I sold it when we moved to Louisiana, but looking back, I should have kept it. We had over 200" of snow every year "up dar" and it always managed "somehow" I've got a Woods 60" 3point blower on my tractor. It'll move a 5' drift without slowing down, but forget staying dry. I get it ready (chains, blower and cab shield) in October, during bow season. We never know if our first snow will be before Halloween or after Thanksgiving, but are "blessed with the promise of more than we need" almost every winter. This was a light snow year until this past month, I took my tractor to the dealership to have the hydraulic pump serviced (thinking the heavy snow was done) only to find that after they tore it down to rebuild the pump, it'll be a couple more weeks for parts to arrive, so I'm "stuck with the Ariens and the plow on the RZR. Moving 6' drifts with a RZR just won't happen, so it's "blow through and lots of hot chocolate" LOL HURRY UP SPRING !!!!!

Well it's a frigid 60F here. This morning I mulched up my tomato plants and then went looking for a couple eggplants the DW wants me plant. Mowed edged and sprayed Roundup yesterday. Tinkered around on the cabover yesterday and put the cover on it. Saw a water moccasin in a parking lot in town. Time to start watching where I step.
But you wouldn't want to be here in July and August.

Well dang. Another Nor'easter planned by the weather prognosticators for Tuesday.

Rant!!
At least the snow blower is back together with a new 50 buck auger gear and skid shoes. Gotta say that replacing that gear is not for the weak of mind. You have a gear keyed loosely on a shaft, four bushings, two spacers two housing pieces and a gasket all needing to be assembled in indexed places on the gear housing while trying to hold the input worm gear shaft complete with the finger lopper/slinger in space while full of grease. This is done AFTER after you have removed the entire blower assembly from the power head and disassembled it 100% to get that gear out.

Rave!!
Worked perfectly

Looking at my 2005 29fls Cougar, with 16” of wet snow on the roof, I’m beginning to wonder what the maximum snow load is??? Any tales of horror or encouragement?
