Smile Best route to Lakeland, Fl

Best route from Tulsa, Okla to Lakeland, Fl not necessarily looking for the shortest but the easiest to drive, the route with the least big cities. Pulling a 36 ft 5ver so the less stop and go the better.

Re: Best route to Lakeland, Fl

I did 40 to Memphis, 22 to Birmingham, 280 to Cordele, 75 to Fl turnpike, 301 to 471 to 98 north. 40 and Memphis are the worst.

Re: Best route to Lakeland, Fl

We have made that trip many, many times. Our usual route is from Memphis take I22 to B'ham, I65 to Montgomery, 231 to I10, I10 to I75 and I75 to 98. That route is probably one of the two quickest. We have been the route suggested by jsm and it is also one of the quickest. On occasion we get off I-10 east of Tallahassee at the 221 exit, drop down to 98 and take 98 all the way to Lakeland. A very nice drive and by that time you will have had all the interstate highways you can stand. Unless you arrive at rush hour, Memphis traffic will be fine, but the road from I-40 in West Memphis, Arkansas (it actually is I-55) is pretty rough going over the old bridge. I-22 from Memphis to B'ham is fine.
