2014 Outback dreaded cap fade
My 2014 Outback 298re has the dreaded cap fade.
Keystone is well a wear of this problem but yes I'm out of warranty! I have contacted Outback Keystone and also my dealer, but Its 2 years old!
I can not believe the crappy warranty on a $35000. unit. I love the trailer and the looks, but with the faded cap not so much. Yes I'm going to shell out $2500 to get it repainted and new decals because its only going to get worse. This will be my LAST Keystone RV.

While its sad that you have front cap issues, I can tell you that Keystone isn't the only maker with this issue and the same response to customers. Cruiser RV has had an ongoing issue, even with units less than 6 months old. Can't say they have been much better with warranty repair. Good luck on your next unit if you decide to switch.

Actually, painting it correctly should "resolve" it - at least for a fair number of years. It is too bad that Keystone hasn't managed to correct this - or at least influence the cap manufacturer to correct it... Seems to be a pretty common complaint.

As much of a pain in the arse it is, buff that bad boy with a machine till the oxidation is gone and keep it waxed every month. That's what I do it may not be convenient, but I'm anal on keeping vehicles clean, and am not paying $2500 with no return on investment to paint an already "want" expense.

Re: 2014 Outback dreaded cap fade
My 2014 had some fade and Keystone repainted it. I never saw it but my service manager did and took care of it. It was painted with top quality automotive paint if I recall and he said it shouldn't be a problem again. As far as never buying Keystone again due to fade.....you might want to rethink that. Just came in today after traveling back from an area that draws LOTS of RVs right now. I saw some really nice trailers, and yes, several had faded front caps, and yes, most weren't Keystone. This holds on all my travels.
On the other hand, and someone may refresh my memory here, I believe in the 2015? model year Keystone went to painting these as they should have been.

I hope they made changes ~~ some builders have not. If I ever have to paint mine without help from Keystone there will be no decals replaced.

I have seen several "caps" that have obviously been repainted and no decals! Fairly certain that the owner is ticked-off and has decided not to "advertise" for the RV company! Can't blame them! Knock on wood...my decals still look great.
