2016 Sprinter 319 MKS Unuseable Gray Tank 2

Why in the world would Keystone dedicate Gray Tank 2 for an "optional" washer/dryer hookup? We have a 34 gallon gray tank nothing goes to as a result of their design and our 34 gallon Gray Tank 1 fills within 2 days making it difficult to camp without full hookups. Both the kitchen and the bathroom gray water go to Gray Tank 1 and nothing goes to Gray Tank 2 making it pretty much useless.

Unfortunately, the dealership was not even aware of this set up as they told use during PDI the kitchen went to tank 1 and the bathroom to tank 2. No mention of the washer/dryer hookup discharge point. Keystone customer relations did not even know of this setup until I told them what the dealership had told me about Gray Tank 2 being dedicated to the W/D. Keystone CR initially told me the bathroom discharged to Gray Tank 2 just like the dealership did.

Don't get me wrong, the Sprinter 319 MKS is a great rig, but not too happy with the dealer or Keystone Customer Relations.

Do both gray tanks drain to the same dump connection? If so, get a twist on valve for the dump connection and open both gray tank valves so they equalize.

I do this sometimes when dry camping if one gray tank gets full and the other still has some space.

A valve like this...

I guess if you had a washer it would not be strange but without one it does seem strange. On the flip side, we only camp with full hook ups but I know many do not like to do that.

We also have 2 gray tanks and washer hookups. The galley goes into gray 1 and the bathroom sink & shower into gray 2. I think the washer will also go into gray 2 if we ever get one.

The second gray tank has gotton me confused too. We dont have a W/D hookup, so I guess its just the kitchen sink. Every time I have dumped, one grey tank dumps a lot, the other just very little. If the second one is for the kitchen sink only, then why? Seems as though it would be much more useful if the two were tied together.

WTXDXER... Yes, both gray tanks discharge to the same dump connection. What a great idea you have. I think this is the answer to my problem. This would give me at least one more day of dry camping.

Mike484... I think WTXDXER has the solution for tying the two gray tanks together. I will give it a try.

Thanks everyone for the input.

I have the same trailer(and truck) and I had to bring it to the dealer and they had to pull the undertray to figure out that grey tank 2 was only for the washer. Kinda sucks that it's there but you can't use it, but I don't fill up my main grey anywhere near as quick as you so it doesn't really bother me.

Many rigs, ours included, don't dump the washer in any tank. If you are using the washer, you must be hooked up to a drain, and the waste water goes directly out the drain hose. For your rig, it might be easier to just have both grey valves open when doing laundry, and not worry about which tank does the washer.
