Totally think owning is worth it! We camp 9-10 times per year and as the kids get older, the camping opportunities are getting harder to squeeze in. As the man-child enters high school this fall it will only get worse. Except for holidays we're looking at one nighters. That's why we upgraded to a TT last fall. In our popup, one nighters just aren't worth it. Too much work for such a short trip. A rental would be even worse as it wouldn't have all of our stuff in it.
Our TT is stored with beds made, all of our camping things, toiletries, etc. all we need to go camping is to throw in some food and clothes and go. At the site we don't need to unhook unless for leveling. Just plug in power and water and in 15 min we're all set up and enjoying camp. That is the only thing that lets us keep camping with the kids activities and schedule. Worth every penny! Last three trips we pulled up in the parent pickup line at school to get man-child straight from band practice and off we go. He was embarrassed the first time but no longer.
