Calgary to Whitefish; Hwy 2 steep?

We're looking at the most direct route between Calgary and Whitefish. Montana's Hwy 2 between Browning and Columbia falls meanders through the mountains, just wondering how steep/tough a drive this is?
Thank you!

Haven't driven it for a few years, but used to quite often to visit friends in Whitefish. Most of Hwy 2 is just gentle hills, no big problems that I remember, and many motor homes/ campers in summer going across the state on the Hi-Line. Browning to Essex to Columbia Falls never seemed real steep, Amtrak follows the same basic path on that south side of Glacier. The only thing I would watch is some of the corners are sharp enough I wouldn't get going too fast, but pulling a camper, you probably won't be anyways. That stretch is a pretty drive, I think and I wouldn't hesitate pulling our camper in summer thru there. In winter, I wouldn't consider it!

We take highway 2 all the way to the border, then it turns to 89 south of the border. We always turn east on 464 (Duck Lake Road) just south of Babb and avoid the curves on the Saint Mary highway (hwy 89). Hwy 89 is quite narrow and very twisty south of Babb. Hwy 464 is not too wide in places too, but at least it is relatively straight. Both roads end up in Browning so you are not going out of the way.

The rest of the road is fine. There are a few hills but nothing too bad.

Lee Creek campground in Cardston is a nice spot to overnight if you don't want to go all the way in one day. Probably the cleanest washroom facility I have ever seen.
