AHHHH Michigan

Sunny and 66 on this beautiful JULY afternoon. Down into the 50's again tonight. Love that heat pump 68 indoors. Should be frosty by the end of August

It's 59 right now in Gaylord. Low last night at our house was 46. Yesterday was pretty nice until about 3PM. For some reason, the temp dropped from about 65 to 55 almost instantly. I was on top of the fifth wheel changing out the vent fan in the bathroom. That drop motivated me to get off the roof, get a sweatshirt and finish the job. There's not too many August days when you need a sweatshirt, even around the Great Lakes.

Man....55 is about my wheelhouse!! I just can't deal with all the white stuff. I guess I will have to deal with the 95+ degree days here in the Deep South.

In the low 70's and lots of sun for us today. Dw and I got to take a nice bike ride and grabbed a bite of lunch in Saugatuck. A great way to spend the day.

We are vacationing at fisherman's island state park near Charlevoix. Beautiful on our first day (today) and of course rain and thunder storms Monday through Wednesday. We leave Thursday.

What is it about Michigan's weather? Is it always like this or is this year particularly unusual? Your RV will get a test for the next 3 days to see if it is leak proof. Better get out the cards or board games. Get some popcorn going... watch TV.. or sit under the awning and watch the rain come down. It's all part of camping.

Smile Family From Texas Coming

We have family coming up from Texas next week. I'm sure no matter what the weather is, they will welcome the change since they've been having three digit temperatures.

It was 91 in northern Michigan yesterday, expecting mid-80's today.

Lost,

If you "think" summer may last into October, you've got to be hoping for the impossible. We're in Marquette today and there's a "heat advisory" to protect "old people and pets"... The forecast is for mid to upper 80's..... By "Louisiana standards" that's a nice February day, but up here... WOW..... We're heading back downstate (across the bridge) probably tomorrow. The "hot weather" is supposed to last at least until Thursday, so it'll be great camping (sure beats sweats and gloves like 2 weeks ago) LOL

John -

Have to admit, DW and I found the daytime 70s and nighttime 40s of far north Indiana (two weeks ago) a welcomed break for the triple digits of north Texas!

Ron,

It got all the way up to 88 today in Marquette. We sat outside, under the awning, enjoying the slight breeze. Others were inside, A/C running complaining of how hot it was. Heck, many of the "locals" even cancelled trips to the beaches on Lake Superior because it was too hot. Hopefully sometime in the future you can make it past Indiana and enjoy some of the fine local fare around these parts. It was refreshing a couple of weeks ago, what with the cool snap, the slightly dry air and the clear skies, it was perfect weather up here.

We are enjoying the outdoors so much (without bugs) that we decided to stay a couple more days, so we'll be heading back downstate sometime later in the week..... Not sure when, but sooner or later LOL

That's way too hot for the UPPERS that live their year round. I have camped in the UP in the middle of July and frost warnings were being issued by the weather men at night. Other times the rain would come in sheets off of Lake Superior this is normal weather for the UP.

By the way did you drive to Houghton MI and see the older homes on the main streets with two front doors? One is on the first level and the second door is on the 2nd floor. The second door is used in the winter to exit the house when the snow flies in Houghton MI. The record snow fall was 355.9 inches in the winter of 1978-79, last year they had 225 inches of snow. It starts to snow in OCT and ended in May, so the summers are very short in that part of MI.
