Beautiful place and phenomenal sites! At $24 a night I don't understand how it's not packed! Right on Lake Hartwell. 15-20 yards from the water. If I knew how to post pictures I would. Another slice of heaven, thank you Lord!

Give us some more info about the CG and sites. W&E or FHU? State park, COE or other?

I see that this campground is a US Army Corp of Engineers facility. In reading over the campground rules, Rule #1 states that "alcoholic beverages are prohibited". Does this mean that you cannot, for example, sit outside your unit in your site, and have a glass of wine or whatever? Is this ban on alcoholic beverages common when camping at all COE campsites or would the rule vary from CG to CG? Is this rule enforced or ???

It seems like a pretty restrictive rule. I've camped at a couple of COE campsites and to be honest, never really read all the rules from top to bottom and never even thought about alcoholic beverages being prohibited.

Booze

I'm not really sure about that particular COE but most of them mean no alcohol other than in your campsite, but I may be wrong. Colorado State Parks only allow 3.2 beer in their parks.

We camp at some COE parks in GA and they ay no alcohol as well. You actually have to initial the mirror placard that says alcohol prohibited. All that said, I still take brewskis and partake of them in the campsite and abroad in the campground. We just respectfully keep them in a cup or some other disclosed manor. They are usually the better campgrounds in the area, and are trying to weed out the partiers!! I am sure if they saw a can or bottle, they would chastise the calm as well, tho. This is why we use cups here!!

If you're discreet it will not be a problem. If you become a drunken fool you will be tossed out!

We are looking at Springfield on Hartwell, also COE. I work EMS in Anderson, SC and have "familiarized" myself with the area campgrounds and the COE seem to be the cleanest and most up to date.
I will look into this one as well. It's a few miles OJ, so I can't use the QRV... Booger!!

Not sure what all the acrynoms mean. QRV, OJ, COE etc...

That being said, we've had a few brewskis, tinis and makers with no problems yet. Don't anyone rat us out now cause we will be here until the 1st of August.

Well, I have an extra 8 days before picking up my son at camp. Does anyone have any recomendations? Maybe within a 50 mile radius of Oconee Point. I'm having a little bit of truck issues and rather not fight/stress anything to steep

TIA
Carlos

QRV is quick response vehicle - Paramedic with lots of cool toys!
OJ is outta my jurisdiction
COE is Corps of Engineers

Use a cozy or a red solo cup.
