Duty, Honor, Country
As we approach Memorial Day, here's a video link to our servicemen which says it all! If your eyes are dry after viewing this then the meaning of sacrifice is not within you;

Thanks Flyguy, It is a shame that many of us need holidays to remind us of the sacrifices of our armed forces and their families. Every day should be a Memorial Day. Thank you to all who have and are now serving and your families, Hank & Lynn ...... We should also remember our law enforcement and first responders for the sometimes thankless jobs they do.

Thank you, Flyguy. And to all our members who served in the military, their families who gave so much, thank you. And to those who are still in the military, a special prayer that you and your family remain safe and secure now and in the future.

Thank you for posting that flyguy. I saw that on another site and it is really touching.
My wifes brother (age 18) was killed his second day in Viet Nam.
Being retired military myself (1982) and her loss makes me a little more sensitive about Memorial Day.
Too many people either do not know, or forget, what Memorial Day is.
It is not about any living person, military or ex-military. That is what Veterans Day is for. It is not celebrated-it is observed.
Previously called decoration day, it is a remberance of our military men and women who lost their lives fighting for their country and our freedom.
Unfortunately it has been commercialized (big sales) and politicized (changed from May 30th to the last Monday in May, by Congress,
in order to make another 3 day weekend.

Outlaw,
Thank you for posting the explanation of the difference between "Memorial Day" and "Veterans Day" Many, many people have their heart in the right place but do not understand the significant difference between the two observances.

Its sad to see at least 2 generations that have no service to their county for partial payment of living free.

Not in my family. My Grandfather was injured in WWI. My dad served in the Army during Korea. I served in the US Navy during 'Nam and my son is in US Navy bootcamp as I write this. Our SIL in also serving in the Navy- a career Sonarman. It is sad to see how many young people have no idea of the sacrifices that have been made by the men and women who served.
