The 800 was loaded in the 5er's basement, forward of the trailer axles. We would also add about 80 lbs inside the truck for the dog...

Hank,
Go check out the threads on the 2013 Ram trucks with the 6.7L engine and 6spd 68RFE auto/6 spd AISIN auto transmission in the diesel sites. Both the 3500HD and 2500HD truck SRW are only offering a 3:42 gear set and no other option is available and boy has this generated the comments. According to RAM this can tow around a 17,000 trailer depending on cab, frame length and options on the truck.

I am sure they will try to justify this with 6 speed trans gearing. Not in DRW and Cab/Chassis .... I wonder why. I towed with 3:54 for years and that was too high in most cases. Watching trans temp and EGT will make long grades interesting with those high finals.

In that case probably 1/2 (400 lbs) will go to the truck and the rest will go to the trailer. With the added weight of your dog and anything else you might want to bring along you have pushed your truck past its limits IMHO.
