Nearing the end of my rookie season.

This was my first full season of camping. So far, I've logged almost 9000 miles and 50 nights. Before the season is over, I've got a couple of short trips, my third trip to Georgia this year and a long trip to Houston, Texas left on the itinerary. Do I get to remove the yellow stripe from my rear bumper yet?

Good year! my best was 42 nights. This year looks to be my worst in 10 years. Life got in the way! Or it was that work thing?

David,

It's sort of like when you solo, your shirt tail gets cut off and hung in the briefing room. So, yes, you can finally remove that yellow stripe from your rear bumper. When is the party? LOL

It sounds like a pretty good year for you camping wise. That's a lot of miles to put on, especially with the new family addition that apparently only slowed down the camping for about 3 or 4 days

Enjoy your trip to Houston. We're probably going to be somewhere south of Houston and west of Galveston in March/April. It looks like the trip to Key West will have to wait for another year. But then, who knows, we may wind up in Texas AND Florida

Not many people realize that the "real goal" to owning an RV is to use it enough to wear it out rather than keep it shiny Looks like you're on the right track to doing just that

Hey, BIG congrats! We're going out on our first weekend on the 26th, 27th and home on the 28th. Full hook-ups to make sure everything works. Of course, the campground is only about 20 miles away but we're still excited.

I have thoroughly enjoyed myself far more than I had imagined on the day I picked up my trailer. I have found and made time that I really didn't realize was there. The Cougar has also done extremely well. It is yet to have any issues, besides a leaking quad ring on the tv antennae. That was a simple fix. I will most likely go ahead and install a new set of tires before leaving for Houston. I think the factory tires have served me well so far but I don't want to gamble on a long road trip. Yes, they are Tow Max's.

That sounds exactly like my first trip out. I was only 20 miles from home. It was my shakedown trip after spending the night in my my backyard. I wanted to make sure I knew how things were supposed to work before I got out too far. I hope your first season out is as fun filled and enjoyable as I have found mine to be.

David -

I hope that in your second year, you escape the typical "sophomore" jinx" that many rookies sometimes experience. We're expecting big things from you next year >>> trouble-free trips, no blow outs with those new tires, and no leaks.

Sounds like you're having way too much fun.
