Raptor 297 awning help

Hello, new to the forum. I recently purchased a 2014 Raptor 297se....this replaced my Raptor 299.

So far I love the 297, but the placement of the awning bugs me. In my opinion, it's placed too far forward. It seems they should have centered it more or added a 2nd awning to the rear. It almost seems like it should have a 2nd awning as some of the other models do.

My question, has anyone else added a 2nd awning on a 297?

Thanks in advance!

I actually think the placement over the basement storage doors is good. You can always have them open and not have to worry about rain. I have similar placement on mine and it works out ok. A second awning is possible if you want to spend about $1500.

I called keystone and my dealer and they both said the trailer was not designed for a second awning because the structer supports were not installed on the side wall of the trailer for it. If I did put it on it would void my warranty if the side of the trailer was damaged because of it. Just passing on what I learned. With that said I still plan on adding a second awning I have checked the location on the crossmembers and the rear door area will be good but the area at the rear of the center slide will be marginal on strength. I read on this forum how to check for crossmember location on a dewy or frosty mourning and that works well. Sorry I forgot to let you Know I have a 377se yours might be different if it had that option new. FYI
