Ohio's Amish country is pretty much the whole state. Do you have any idea where you're going to be camping? If you have any destinations in mind, you may get some members who can recommend campgrounds near that area. Otherwise, it's pretty much a "shot in the dark" to suggest a campground in "Amish Country" as it's such a large area.

There are many nice campgrounds in the Holmes county area. Whispering Hills is a very nice private, Mohican State park is very nice also. I'm sure there are others, but I have stayed at both of these.

We always stay at the Scenic Hills campground in Berlin. No frills and Thrills but friendly and clean. You need to be self contained but they have all hoohups. I'm there for the goodies throughout the area not the camping experience when I stay there.

Y'all are killing me. We are pulling the trailer to Eldora Speedway for the 4Crown races Sept20-21. I believe we will stay at Mercer County Fairgrounds in Celina for the races. I was thinking: "what the heck else is there to do in Ohio?" Only been there before on business...fly in, fly out. I was thinking it would be a bit early for the New England fall leaf tour..
It looks like the Amish country is worth a visit. I've been on the internet for 5 hours looking at campgrounds and places to see.
I'll take any suggestions.
Thanks! I think.

We very much enjoyed The Lazy R campground in Granville, OH about 30 min east of Columbus. It's been a few years since we've been there but I remember it to be a quiet and very scenic little place in the fall.

I've been to Eldora. Mostly farmland around there. Ohio is pretty much a lot of farmland unless you get around the larger towns and cities. Holmes county is the largest Amish community and it can keep you pretty much entertained for a couple of days. Except Sundays. South of Columbus there is an area called Hocking Hills. It's very scenic and relaxing. You can find a motorcycle museum, the Airstream RV plant also in the Columbus area. From either Columbus or Holmes county you are looking at an hour drive to Eldora. Longer if towing.

Gearhead,
I might see you at Eldora for the 4 Crown, although, I only live about 30 mins away so no camping there for me. Eldora is a good 3-1/2 to 4 hour drive from the Amish country. While you are camping in Celina, make the 20 min drive to Wapakoneta for the Armstrong Air and Space Museum. Wapak is the hometown of Neil Armstrong. Downtown Wapakoneta also has lots of antique stores. If you like museums, the Allen County museum in Lima is great little local place. The Airstream factory is about 30 mins from Celina. Not sure how long you are here, but the Air Force Museum in Dayton is also a great visit, especially since it's free. Send me a pm if you want more info for the area.
