Two or three days before going out, I can't sleep. Not from worry, but from excitement When I was working in my high stress job, I often woke in the middle of the night and couldn't go back to sleep because my brain just wouldn't quit. I thought of how nice it would be when I retired. Now I'm retired, with a cool RV, and still I can't sleep.

I'm sure my husband experiences your same pre-trip jitters, but he's a silent worrier, so it's OK He was the same way when he was driving truck and preparing for a trip to Idaho or elsewhere.

I'm sure, when we have been on a few more trips, I will sleep better, but what's the fun, if you aren't so excited you can't sleep?

I also get very concerned before a trip. I worry about the same things, but in addition since I live in the North East its the traffic and idiots that pull stupid stuff. It now seems like the trend to go from the third lane all the way over to the first lane and right into an exit. In most cases you don't see it coming.

Or you may see a motorcyclist in the second lane riding on his rear wheel. I have seen this from time to time.

In one case, I was driving in the first lane and a car cut across in front of me and decided he was taking the next exit. The only problem was that this exit was very busy and backed up this driver ended up stopping in the lane I was in had I not been vigilant I would have broadside him. Keep in mind that this is a major highway with a 65 MPH speed limit.

Its tough enough to drive here without a trailer never mind with one in tow. This type of driving wears you down fast.

I'm soooooo glad we don't have to do much freeway towing. Our roads aren't anything compared to East coast. I've driven a car there and even that is scarey. The drivers are rude! The only frustration in our area is on narrow, winding roads, or on highways with a lot of tourist traffic. You just don't want to get in a hurry. My pet peeve is the out of area drivers who go really slow on the curvey roads, then speed up on the straight-aways so you can't pass

Glad things are going better for you.

Fastback, I hear you, Mass is lovely to drive in. Heading south on 128 near rt 3 last year and a car comes up next to me, cuts me off to take the exit which is backed up. I blasted the horn as I was not going to be able to stop. She missed the exit but of course it was my fault so I was lucky enough to get the finger, real nice.

Anyway, happy travels to all.
