F150 towing

I have a 2009 F150 with a 5.4L and i bought a passport 3220bh.the truck is rated to tow 9700lbs and it has 3.55 gears.should i be ok to tow this trailer?

I would say with all the proper safety equipment you should be fine. My F150 tows 8600# and my trailer is slightly heavier than yours and I do fine.

Your f150 should handle the trailer you are looking at just fine but I will bet you will be wishing you had more motor. The 5.4 with 3.55 gears will be working really hard pulling a TT of that size.

I agree with the above. The 5.4L is not a powerhouse and that gear is going to load it down even more. You'll probably do OK on level terrain towing, but if you get into the mountains, you are going to find yourself wanting more horsepower, more torque, and certainly more payload capacity.

I would think you will be over on payload. A loaded trailer will give you over 1000lb hitch weight. You will then need to add passengers, hitch, cargo, fuel, etc.

Just a thought.....
