I have a new blog post up with the things I do to dry camp in my Cougar. I'm not hard core yet! but enjoy a number of days out at a time.

Check it out if your interested in my experience so far.

Cheers Ray

Ray -

As usual, an interesting and informative read! Removing those incandescent lights and replacing them with LED's will go a long way in reducing battery drain. I've replaced them all with LED's and the there is a significant and noticeable improvement. For boondockers, a "must do mod" IMO.

Thanks Hank.

Featus, do you recommend any particular brand? I was at Quartzite show and the amount of different suppliers is amazing. Would hate to waste the money on crap ones.

There is currently a lengthy thread (LED Replacement Lights) already on the forum regarding LED lights - just look at one of today's posts. At last count, the thread was almost 16 pages long! If you can weed through all the submissions, you can find all sorts of links to places where you can purchase these LED lights.

I think your best bet is to check out Steve's (SteveC7010) posts on this topic. He is very knowledgeable about LED lights and has some very good information for anyone who is looking to install them. He goes into lumen ratings, intensities, etc. Worth reading for sure.

Many of the LED's are made off-shore but the prices are quite reasonable and there are dozens of sites and sellers from which to choose. I got mine off eBay and; because they were so cheap, I ordered a few different kinds just to try them out and see the differences amongst them. I haven't figured out the cost per LED light, but I am guessing that it would be in the neighbourhood of $3-$4. Not sure about the "brand" - I wasn't really looking for anything brand specific since I didn't know X from Y. Sorry - can't help you out with this question.
