Rims pressure rating.

I am seriously considering the replacement of my China bombs. My unit came equipped with ST 225/75R15, load D tires and I want to replace them with Maxxis, M8008 ST Radial, load ‘E’.

I check the rims pressure rating, but cannot make anything of what’s stamped on them.

Any suggestions.

Thanks

Call or email the rim manufacturer and request the specs by part number.

After reading all of the posts about the Towmax tires, I decided to replace them with Maxxis eventhough they only have 5K miles. Why take a chance. Blowouts are no fun. The used tire dealer told me on the phone he'd buy old tires from me! Mine are the ST235/80R16. I ordered them from Discount Tire Direct as was show in an other post. I ordered them Tuesday morning and they arrived Thursday by UPS. They were $165 each with free shipping. Discount Tire's website lists installers too.

What is stamped may be maximum weight capacity (somewhere around 3240 is E rating I think.. your tire guy "SHOULD" know) which you then can convert to tire rating giving you maximum pressure rating. If the rims are properly rated be sure that the new valve stems you install are rated for that higher pressure too. Your lugs and other suspension parts may not be rated that high. ... Isn't the RV life wonderful????

Last year I replaced my 22575r15 Towmax D's with Maxxis Es on the 15" stock Keystone aluminum wheels. There was no psi rating stamped on the wheel anywhere, just Max load rating of 3880 lbs (I think). The stamped rating matched that of the new maxxis. With that said I have been running them at 80 psi with no problem. Best investment I have made yet on the fiver.
Don't forget to get them balanced. It will help minimize shaking and lengthen the life of the tires.

I also switched my stock "D" rated to "E" rated on my stock rims. I actually called the wheel manufacturer and they said it was fine you just had to change the valve stem to a 80psi one.
