Pecan Park RV Resort

On my trip to Big Pine Key, where I camped at Sunshine Key RV Resort, I laid over, both coming and going, at Pecan Park. I would like to say that it must be the cleanest place I've ever seen. The layout was very convenient to getting large rigs in and out. All of the pads were concrete, and level from side to side. 50 amp service, cable, electric, sewer and water are available on all sites. The staff was very helpful and friendly. If you ever find yourself in the Jacksonville, Fla. area looking for a place to layover or stay, I would most certainly give this place a look.

It is well positioned for overnight stays. Another nice overnight just a little further from I-95 is Flamingo Lake RV on I-295 west beltway. Both have a good reputation. The area near Pecan Park also has plenty of shopping and dining opportunities.

Pecan Park

Pecan Park IS going to hear flight pattern take offs and landings. I am fairly sure Flamingo will as well. Pecan Park was built to accomodate those HUGE in season flea markets while Flamingo encircles a small lake and most certainly will have better security. Either way, you are going to drive short distances to restuarants and shopping.

Me, I'd choose Flamingo. Have several retired camping buddies who live in Jax and they LOVE the place for small rally get togethers. Very personal service and care.

BUT, that's just me. There are plenty of boon dockers and Walmart lot campers on this forum and each of us selects within their comfort zone. Do what makes your experience all you wish it to be.

Be safe in 2013 and enjoy!
