Myrtle Beach Camping

We are leaving July 21st for Myrtle Beach. This is our first time there and we are staying the Pirate Land Campground. What are your thoughts on this campground.

We stayed there last year, really enjoyed being so close to the beach and all of the amenities offered at the CG. Did not enjoy the parking lot type lots, all rigs just lined up side by side.

We would go again as the kids really loved it there.

Hey tjl Myrtle Beach

When are you returning from Pirateland? I have site 200 booked for August 6-13th. Going with daughter and grand kids ages 3 and 5. Looking to have fun, fun , fun in the sun. Send me a "PM" on your experience. I booked 2 months ago and had to pay in advance to get this guaranteed site. One of few larger pull throughs they have (like 8) and just back of the beach. Was going to do a front row, BUT, heard the on property road separating campground and beach is used heavily by rental golf carts. Was concerned for the little ones safety and my SANITY.... Let me know...interested.

p.s..already bought and am flying my "pirate flag" on my cool ladder flag pole which I asked for as a gift on father's day from www.flagpolebuddy.com

No. I do not have any affiliation with subject flag pole provider. I saw them at a show in AZ and did not buy there and thus, now I have one. Very neat products, very simple to use. ( I am old and tired )

rrrrrrrrrrr.....matey......rrrrrrrr
Getting excited.....rrrrrrrrrrrrr

Lol sounds like you're all set to go. We will be there July 21-28. When we made our reservations they only had 3 sites left so we took what our camper would fit in. I'll let you know how we like it.

I just came back from Pirate Land a few weeks ago. I was in site 769 which was great. I liked the beach side of the resort and thought the inland side were very close to each other. We split our time between the beach and the pool. The beach front sites have plenty of room and are much bigger than the sites at Ocean Lakes. The campground overall was nice. It’s all about location location location. The sea breezes were constant so bring tie downs for awnings. I didn’t use their bathroom so I can comment on that. This was the first time I did “beach” camping and I guess I missed the woods and nightly campfires.

If I remember correctly. They have around 1200 sites.

Pirateland is nice, Ocean Lakes is the best of the 3, but I wouldn't recommend Lakewood Campground to anyone.

Yea we like Ocean Lakes the best too. I like that I can bring my electric golf cart to travel around the campground. I like all the activities and stuff they have. You basically do not have to leave the campground unless you want to spend a lot of money for outside things.

All 3 on that end of beach have their supporters. Pirateland is as nice as others. it's just what ever you want for a camping experience. I prefer Ocean Lakes if thats the direction I am going.
First part of August we are going to try the Cypress RV Resort on the intercoastal waterway for 3 nights. off 544 near Socastee, SC before getting to Oceanlakes and others. Let you know what we think about that one later.
Enjoy your time at the beach.

Thanks for all the information. We leave Saturday morning. I plan on checking out other campgrounds while we're there to see what else we like.

We has reservations last year for Ocean Lakes, Had to cancel, but if we were to go there I think I would stay at one of the state parks that are close by. Myrtle Beach state park is has beach access.

Lakewood

I've been going to Lakewood RV Camping Resort for several years now, almost every year without fail. My family and I love it and find the campground to offer everything you need for a wonderful vacation. I'm planning to take our new 5th wheel there this summer for our first trip with it. I highly recommend this campground for a family friendly and fun trip for all...
