Generator surge protector issue

We just purchased a Champion 3100 watt inverter generator and were testing it out. When we start the generator and connect our power cord to it we are getting a warning on our surge protector saying "L1 and ground reversed". Our fifth wheel is 50 amp and we are using a 30 amp dog bone.

Do we need to ground the portable generator? The generator is a floating ground model.

Don't want to connect to rv til we are sure what we are doing....

Thanks in advance for the advice!

You don't need to ground any portable generator operating one RV. You do need to bond the neutral and ground to make your ems happy.

The easiest way is to create a bonding plug and plug it into one of the 15 amp receptacles. If you don't know how to do it they can be purchased.

What Customer1 said.

I get the same error code when I forget to plug in the bonding plug.... Bought mine on Amazon.

Like the others said, it sounds like you need a bonded plug. Here is a video on how to make one. It is very easy.
