DIY WDH lifter

Pair a 13" drop shank with a WDH head and that's a hefty chunk of steel to manhandle from the garage floor to the back of the truck. I pondered and thunk and ruminated and came up with something simple. I'll let the photos tell the story and yes, it's lifted off the cement in the last image. When I'm standing up straight it's the perfect height to slide into the receiver.

That's a good idea. I found, and bought, a device meant for moving heavy hitches that just fits over the ball. Here's the link

https://www.amazon.com/HitchGrip-HG7.../dp/B00HSO37B0

It is really convenient and beats the heck out of carrying that greasy shank with hands/gloves. I will say that if your ball is mounted pretty high it can be a little tight with your fingers.....but still much better than trying to waddle it in front of your gut.

Hitchgrip is a great backsaver. Have been using one for a few years now. Don't know if it would have enough clearance for Number 4's longer drop hitch.
