Issue with slide seal and seeking advice

Hello

I have an issue with a kitchen slide seal on my 30RLi that I fear will grow into a real problem over time. There is already a small hole at the pinch.

The bracket for the gas line is pinching the lower flappy seal when the slide is closed. There isn't room to move the bracket enough to correct the issue. Although I am pretty happy with my dealer I'd just as soon not have them take a wack at fixing this.

I could;

1) Keep on camping and pretend it isn't happening (not in my nature),
2) Move the bracket somehow (least desirable),
3) Trim the seal for clearance and fabricate something that will replace the trimmed section (preferred method, but this could be like picking at rust on an old car).

So, what would you folks do in this situation.

That definitely looks like a design flaw or gas fitting factory installed at the wrong location. Gilligan at the factory probably thought, heck this looks like a good place as any to drill the hole for the fitting. It looks like the through floor fitting needs to be moved a couple inches since the seal can't be moved.
Let us know how you make out.

While I agree it was real dumb to put that bracket there, IMO if the seal isn't getting cut by the fittings or bracket I would leave it alone.

If the bracket can not be moved, I would take a piece of foam (similar to pipe insulation) and fit it around the bracket and back to the frame rail so the seal forms to it. (glued in place on the frame rail) That should close the "hole" and save the seal from damage. JM2¢, Hank

Hello Frank:

Thank you for posting since I have the same problem on my 2015 30RLI.

I looked at what the factory did on the bedroom slide and they cut the rubber seal and tin, then secured it with screws.

I'll probably do the same for the small tear that is appearing when we get back home.

Thanks for the suggestions folks. You confirmed I was on the right track. However, after more looking and probing I think I may have a cleaner fix.

Don, don't cut.

The bracket is directly under/behind the drawer and stove and there may be enough slack in the outside line for it to pass through the floor. I'll need to confirm that somehow.

I think that if there is enough slack that I will move the bracket and offending two hoses above the floor into the space behind the drawer. My only concern about this it placing three additional gas junctions into the trailer living space.

I have a plumber friend down the street that has a gas certification so his guidance will be obtained.

After mulling it over I decided to remove the bracket and put the split above the slide floor. In the process I reduced the number of connections from 6 to 3 which my gas plumber friend thought was a good idea. Here's what it looks like now.

I sealed the holes with electrical putty.
