Tank Sensor Help!!??

Hey guys! I posted last summer about my tank sensors never reading (not wrong but no power). My initial guess with help from you guys was it was possible a bad ground. Well I finally got around to checking into it recently and found that the tank sensors on one tank wasn't wired to anything. (see pic)

All 4 sensor wires are connected to the harness, but the red and white wires are just hanging with no connection. The only other wires near are the larger gauge red and white wires shown. Should these small sensor wires be attached to those??? On another tank the white wire is connected but the red is open on it as well. Figured before I dug myself in deeper I would reach out to you guys for help!! Really trying to avoid any type of dealer interaction as the closest is 2 1/2 hours away and I've heard nothing but horror stories lately. Thanks in advance!

Looking at the sensor pack you have 3 wires with eyelets, a white wire with an eyelet and a red wire with a bare wire end.

White eyelet goes to bottom (lowest) sensor and frame ground.
Red bare wire is the signal wire to the monitor panel.

Thanks for the info, Chuck. Both the white and red smaller wires shown are bare ended. I guess my confusion is where those wires should be attached. Are they supposed to be connected to the larger red and white wires? Also, on the other tank the red wire is bare ended there also...is it supposed to be like that?

I can’t say where the larger white and red wires one from. You almost need to remove the monitor panel and identify what color is used for each tank.

I would test continuity from the large white to frame ground. The large bare red might be the signal wire, but if there is another tank with the same red and white wires, the red can’t be the signal wire.

Thank you. I’ll try to dig into it this weekend and will report back.

This video shows the wiring. It looks like the red and white wires return to the panel.

Here is a quick update. I took the bare ended wires and connected to the existing red and white wires that were coming out from the bottom of the tank. This seemed like the logical place for the wires to have pulled out from. Still no working sensors....going to try some other things this weekend.

Look at the wiring at a tank that is working. It may have a 4wire flat, and if so that’s the signal wires from the panel.

You’re too far away for me to look at it, itwould be fairly easy to fix.

Have you removed he monitor panel and verified there are ANY wires hooked up to the board?

I wish I could find a mobile rv tech around me! Yes, I have. I have the iN·command system so everything feeds the main box In the cargo area. I removed the 8 pin connector for the tank sensors last night and plugged back in.

The 8 pin connector at the iN·Command panel has lead wires that are only a few inches long. Follow them back till you find the wire bundle coming from your tank sensors. Make note of the color to color connection. Once you know this, a call to iN·command may help you solve the mystery. I’d also want to know if the open ended white and red wires have 12 volts between them. Stay on the hunt and you’ll surely succeed!
