Noisy Generator Hour Meter and Annoying fuel light

Hello,

RV is getting tucked in for the winter, but I did have some questions on some items I could work on while it's resting.

First, the hour meter is a mechanical style and it is LOUD. When watching a movie while running on generator the constant click of the meter ticking is distracting. Can I switch it out to a digital one? Has anyone done this? How do I get the hours on the digital one to match for maintenance purposes?

Second, the fuel light is annoying too. It lights up the entire living area. I don't want to lose it permanently. It's actually a quick way to see that the battery connection is closed. I know in a previous thread someone put a toggle switch on the panel in the light power lead. I'd love to see some pictures if they are out there.

Has anyone done any of these mods or have the ability to point me in the right directions?

Thanks!

You can switch it out for a digital one. All you want to do to match up hours is to hook it up to a 12 volt battery charger and let it run till it matches up and then install it. Use a piece of black tape over the light cut it to only let through a small bit of light.

Even better than the black tape (although it is a good one) is stop at any of the window tinting places and ask for a scrap of their darkest tint. C'mon, man, surely they'll give you a corner. That's all you need.
