Dragonfly lithium battery only works to 60%
Hey everyone so I just bought a passport 189rb and I got the 400i solar package (2 panels 1 battery) but when I am off grid the battery only works to 60% according to the shunt then shuts down cause it doesn’t have enough volts to run the trailer components. Can any tell me of this is right or why this isn’t right? Seems ridiculous to me. The battery meter on the trailer shows the battery going from 2/3 to empty very quickly but the shunt shows it still has 60% battery life but less then 10volts. I also have an inverter installed as well in the trailer.
Thanks

Doesn't seem right to me. I'm not sure why you would get that, maybe someone else has an answer, I just know that I have 2 100ah Lith batts and I have run mine down to 20% and was still powering things. Maybe you got a bad battery?? Unsure. Hope someone can help you as no, it's not right.

Is your converter rated to charge lithium batteries? And if it is, is there a switch that needs to be turned to the lithium position to fully charge those batteries? If the converter is in the lead acid position, you might not be fully charging them. If that isn't the problem, maybe the controller doesn't know you have lithium batteries and is shutting things down because it thinks you have lead acid batteries connected.

Lithium batteries can discharge to near zero (internal battery circuits prevent a true zero discharge state). Lithium batteries will also provide full rated power output until it reaches that cutout point. In other words, the lights don’t get dimmer and dimmer as the battery discharges, they just shut off.
60% is not at all normal and needs to be looked into

There are likely multiple issues here. You said you are off grid. So does that mean you’re only charging with solar?
Another member reported in the last week that their Victron equipment cane from the factory with everything set for lead acid batteries. Make sure both the Smart Shunt and the Solar Charge Controller are set for Lithium batteries.
Finally, there is a setting on the shunt software for syncing state of charge. Once you are able to get it to where you KNOW it is fully charged (13.4v is what they tend to settle at after full charge) press the “Synchronize” button in the state of charge section of the app.
I’m not saying these are the only part of the solution , but check these over. And like another post said, make sure your converter/charger is set to lithium as well.
Oh, and don’t use the battery meter that is on the trailer control panel if it’s one of the LED lights meters. Those are not “calibrated” for lithium batteries.

The shutdown parameters should be adjustable. My lithium's are set via my Victron controller at 10%. Your BMS might also have adjustable parameters. The beauty of lithium, 12 volt constant until shutdown. Open your solar controller app.

How do you program the battery to shutdown with a controller?

I had some multiple problems with my 400i solar system. First my solar controller was set to lead acid batteries (LA) and thus the charging and discharging parameters were way off. Then the converter wouldn't switch to LI charging unless it was strictly on solar.
The converter needed a firmware update, and the settings in the controller had to be completely reset to LI specifications. There are a few good You Tube videos of pros setting up Victron Solar Controllers and Shunts. Well worth the time to watch.
