MorRyde electric cord storage reel

Anyone added MorRyde electric cord storage to their basement? How wired? Mounting suggestions?

Yes I have added one along with a reel for my water house. Easy install it just scared to the floor. Power. Or rolls up on when not in use. When ready to use unroll connect to power then camper flip breaker. When done camping reverse. Makes it a lot easier for me. That power cord is heavy.

Well as an owner of a mid sized 5er with a smaller basement, a cord reel isn't a option. We chose a lighter option. I built our 50 amp 240 volt power cable out of 6/4 SOOW cable. This is used in construction and for portable connections. This has rubber insulation and is lighter and far more flexible than the standard PVC insulation on normal cables, even below freezing.
Our power cable is 40' and easily fits in a 3 gallon bucket.

I opted for a MorRyde manual reel. I liked the thought of it being electric powered but with the only attachments being those little screws into that wood I decided not to. The cable is heavy and can exert a lot lateral twist on that housing if it's in a bind and you're not feeling it.

Regardless of which reel you choose they are an excellent option IMO if you have the room. Over time trying to coil a power cable into a tote or bucket causes the conductors to twist inside the sheath, mine always broke the sheath loose from the OE cable connector on one end or the other.

In full disclosure I will say with the manual reel DW and I both straighten the cable and feed it into the reel as I turn it. One person could easily do it but it goes very fast with both of us.

Standard equipment on Tiffin motorhomes. Simple 12V wiring, easy to mount.

I think it was standard on the Landmark.
I’m just waiting for it to break.
I would as soon have a manual reel.

Had one on 5th wheel for 11 years no problem. Just bought one for our current 5th wheel but have not installed it yet.
