Montana Electrical Problem

I have a 2011 Montana 3400RL that I've always stored indoors and is still in excellent condition overall. Two days ago all outlets in unit showed 240V.
Then, yesterday, only 2 outlets in living room show 240V while all other outlets show zero. No breakers are "popped" and the elec. panel shows a green light!
Had an electrician look at it and it baffles him. Needless to say, I don't dare turn on any of the 110V appliances! Has anyone seen anything like this? Jon Moore

welcome to the forum

I would check the shore cord and the receptacle your plugged into.

50A trailer service is 2 legs of 50A 120VAC and if the two hot legs somehow get "joined" I can see problems.

I have 240V at the outlet that I plug the shore cord into and it's reading
240V now. The cord also checks out, reading 240 into the trailer connector
(I opened up the back of the trailer connector and checked voltage there).
The manual for this RV only talks about 120V converting to 12V in the trailer.
Be that as it may, I've been plugging the trailer into this 240V outlet for the
12 1/2 years i've had the unit. What do you think about a bad converter
in the trailer?

It won’t be a bad converter, it only converts 120VAC into 12VDC.

Do you have 120VAC on each leg of the shore cord? Do you have 120VAC on 2 sides of the pedestal?

There are 4 wires,
Line 1hot- usually red or black
Line 2 hot- usually red or black
Line 3 neutral- usually white
Line 4 ground- usually green or bare

How are you measuring the voltage?

How are you reading 240v? If all your appliances (TV, microwave etc.) have been working for 12 years they haven't been working on 240v...they would be fried. What pins, legs, points are you using, and where, to determine you have 240volts operating your trailer? Sounds like you are reading both legs at once. Do you have an EMS? It will read both legs for you.

The same thing happened to me a few years ago. Turns out I had lost one leg of the 50 amp service. The pedestal in the campground showed both worked but inside the camper only one leg had power. I pulled the power connection out of the back side of the camper and it ended up being a poor connection to the back of the plug. It had gone thru some heat cycles enough times that it melted some of the plug and broke one wire from the clamp. I ended up replacing the entire plug at the camper to fix the issue.

Thanks much for the info! It's always nice to get feedback from someone who actually had the same or similar problem. I have opened up that plug going into the trailer and
will check it tomorrow. Jon
