Heat and Gas switch

Hi all. I have an Avalanche 390DS. I know when I use the stove I have to flip the gas switch on in the control panel. But what about when I want the furnace for heat? I am hooked up to electricity. Thanks so much.

Never heard of a "gas switch" that turns on propane for your stove. Propane flow is controlled by the valve on a propane tank. If the propane valve is opened and you can light your stove you should have flow to the on-board heater which is controlled by a thermostat or possibly an InCommand module.

The switch you circled, along with the RESET indicator and the ELECTRIC switch, located to the right of the GAS switch are the controls for your water heater. If you turn both GAS and ELECTRIC off, you effectively turn off your water heater. Turn on either (or both) the GAS and ELECTRIC switches to activate that energy source to heat the water. If there is a problem with the gas ignition, the RESET light will glow red, indicating to you that there has been a malfunction. That said, during the time "from when you turn on the GAS switch" until it is functioning, the RESET light may flicker momentarily. That is normal and no cause for concern.

Just to clarify, I am hooked to electric and the propane is on. Does this switch need to stay on?

Sorry for the questions. THANK YOU

Hi,

It does not,.... as long as your are plugged into shore power..... but with both (Gas and Electric) sources "ON", the recovery time for the water to heat up will be quicker than with only one source selected.

As John explained, if you want to run the water heater on gas then turn it on, if not turn it off. If your not using the trailer turn both off. If there's no water in the water heater then DO NOT TURN EITHER SWITCH ON. With an empty tank the electric heating element will burn up in a matter of seconds.
