A couple of weeks ago we stayed at Spruce Row CG in Ithaca.
Looked at the leaves, toured wineries and hiked the many falls.
Had a wonderful time at a very nice CG for $47.00 a night with tax.

$200.00 a night would kill the joy for us.

Boy, I was choking at the almost $150/ night for West Yellowstone next summer that I booked. I think the $200/night would be my tipping point of finding a different campground.

Yes, prices have gone up if they haven’t closed sltogether.

State Parks or others places don’t clean themselves and workers don’t volunteer to work a full time job for free.

As you know just finding workers to show up who will work is hard enough, coupled with the lower average pay in this field.

A position like this doesn’t pay enough to support yourself or family is a real reason.

Now throw in the fact that we have some real nasty careless trashy people out there that leave garbage, dump their tanks in the parks, leave pet droppings, trash everywhere. Even a gum wrapper, one bottle or tin foil piece is too much.
Then there is the “Us” of today… many of “us” have the attitude that I won’y pick up someones else's nasty garbage. There are some campers that “leave it better than they found it, even if it’s not their garbage”
There’s just not enough of us to do the job and hold each other responsible.

It is very saddening & angering to see the prices and camp abuses.

We Press On or Stay Home.

We were in that area the winter of 2017 and stayed at Camp Huaco Springs outside of New Braunfels along the Guadalupe River. It was nice to sit by the campfire with the river running beside you. I just checked and their rates are $65/night winter and $100/night summer.

Not a chance! I’m in NH. We’re seasonal now but now the average price of a regular campground is $70 +/-. There are some Jellystones that are more, there’s a place called MooseHillock (one in NY too) that are more. MooseHillock has some very expensive seasonal rates too:$8000 to $15,000. Yeah....no.

Our campground has about a dozen transient sites and full hookups are $40 or $45.

We had heard about MooseHillock from friends from Maryland. I looked it up at that time and I discovered that the $15,500 INCLUDES WINTER STORAGE!
Well, no wonder the rate! We should have known.

Still a ridiculous amount. I'm sorry, I'm not paying 1/3 of what I paid for the camper to store it. Granted that's not just storage but ya. No way in heck!

Not at Moose Hillock but $2400 and our camper stays on site. We go once every couple weeks to check on things until March 1st. We aren’t allowed in after then til opening day in May. Snow melts, everything’s a slushy mess.

The most we’ve paid was $90/night on a holiday weekend. Only reason we did was because friends asked us to go.

Good gravy! I hope that includes someone who comes and dumps your tanks/ cleans your camper at least once a week.

I’ll take our summer seasonal spot - $1900 and we could leave it there all year, but choose to take it to indoor winter storage to the tune of $1000 for the winter. So, I suppose still expensive, but love it being inside all winter where in 8 years we’ve never had a rodent issue because of their rodent control. Our campground unfortunately people have had rodent issues leaving their campers there over winter.

We store over the winter in an old warehouse that used to store paper. Very tight and in 7 years we have had no critter / rodent problems.
Couple of weeks ago I pulled into the warehouse, that's right I pull in and back into where they ask and drop the TT. Big warehouse.
I give them my name and they dig out my old contract and charge me the same, $300.00 from October till April. Prices per foot have gone up but only for new people. Returns keep paying the same. What ever you paid the first year is what you keep paying. Very strange but who am I to complain. Guy after me paid $400.00 for about the same size TT. I kept my mouth shut.
My wife thinks I should buy a cover and keep it on the pad but for the price I think clean indoor storage is best.

I'd even pay the 400 and say I got a great deal for that. Those are reasonable numbers. Sounds like you have a good deal going. Congrats. Live to find something like that.

Camp Finfo looks like a good place to go with kids…as others have said - sort of like the Jellystone Yogi Bear campgrounds. Back in the early 90s when we had 3 young kids camping in pop-up campers (on one income!) no way I could have afforded that kind of money. The West Yellowstone KOA was the most expensive place we stayed at and it was $60/night in 1994 IIRC - which was triple the avg campground cost of $20/night. I can remember where Motel 6 got their name! They were still $6/night as late as 1979 when the construction company I worked for built a few (and lost our a$$ in revenue in doing so).

We are fortunate to have a 3 yr old grandson in Houston. We might have to fork over the big bucks for a place like Camp Finfo hopefully in the near future and enjoy it with him.

I'm fortunate as in no kids at home anymore. Makes biondocking easier and no need for the "fun" camping spots anymore. Just looking for peace n quiet. That'll help keep the cost down.

COE done spoiled me.
We are paying $30 a night in Abbeville Louisiana and it is bothering me.
We are however enjoying the amenities…water, electricity, and sewer hook ups.
No pool, no slides, no swings, no laundry, no game room. But we have trees and Dupuys oyster bar is just down the street.

No swings? Now wait just a minute! I draw the line at swings. As a former high-swing champion for kicking the oak tree limb the most in 3rd grade - I got to have me some swings!

Our son lived in Gig Harbor WA for awhile the nearest rv park was $750 per month + electric, quite a bit more than we normally paid, but close to our son. This particular park appeared to have been a KOA in its past life by the big A frame office, but not all that appealing in this life, swimming pool appeared to be filled with lime jello & sign stated "closed for the season" which was only just beginning to start. While there the DW fell & broke her ankle, we were to leave about mid June, but due to the broken ankle we needed to stay about another 30-45 days. Talked to the girl at the desk to extend, she stated they'd need to check availability. After a day or 2 she stated that we could but would need to move to different sites weekly, then she says "but Oh! BTW! Our summer rates start July 1st", I ask what those were, "it's $125 per day" I ask about monthly, she stated "$125 per day" to which I said forget it we'll find somewhere else.
I guess after that long winded story my limit to fork over is somewhere much less than $125 per day, especially at a park that had absolutely nothing to offer other than proximity to family.
