Our Montana fifth wheel has a rear door on the opposite side of the trailer. We wanted an awning on that side of the trailer too. When we purchased the camper, our dealership worked out the details for us. It took about 3 months, but eventually the awning went up. It's worked great. Ours is electric. They even installed LED lighting under the awning and the power strip on the awning arm. It is, in every which way, identical to the front side one, only shorter.
So yes. It can be done! No difference between the front side of the camper and the back side of the camper. You just need to know where those studs are and match them to the actual length of the awning. If you can do that, installing a manual one will be pretty straight forward. Otherwise, bolts will need to go completely through the wall with nuts inside the camper. Then find a creative way to disguise the hardware inside the trailer.
