Ford Roof Failures
Ford guys you might want to shore up that roof with some 2x4s or something! Just saw it and thought of all you guys. Heck, there might not even be Ford trucks next year!! Comments are tongue in cheek...thought it might be interesting to someone.

It would be interesting to see information on the crash, and with that many crashes with crushed roofs, why not a recall!

I don’t think super duty trucks get a NHTSA rollover safety rating. At least i didn’t find one on a quick google search. Should be some aftermarket bolt in roll cages you guys can install. Lol

You "thought wrong"... This is the crash test certification from my 2015 SuperDuty window sticker. No need for a bolt in roll cage, just keep the dirty side down and don't crash the truck. As documented in an older thread on this forum, you also can't tow across a high bridge in Idaho, run off the side of the bridge and expect the Ford engineering or the trailer to keep the truck from falling into the river below.

You know, it's a shame when people die whatever the reason and I'm not minimizing that, but I bet it wouldn't be hard to find 80 people that have managed to cut or stab themselves with a butter knife - some fatally.

You are right. I think the lawsuit, and especially the award, are ridiculous. I posted it more because of the financial decision vs the roof failure. These trucks are meant to roll on their wheels not bounce on their roofs. I've seen a sedan roll right in front of me at 70mph and its roof was almost crushed to the top of the door. I don't recall anyone filing a huge lawsuit over that because....you get into a situation where you roll your vehicle, the roof is going to collapse. Solution? Don't roll the vehicle.

For clarification, I couldn’t find one for 2002 that’s in the lawsuit. If they did have one, 3 star rating should be enough to take care of the lawsuit. You know what you’re getting when you buy it. When you go to the NHTSA website, the only F series listed for 2002 is the 150. Thing I found interesting on that is the 4x4 has 2 stars, the 4x2 is 3 stars. Makes you wonder why the 4x4 rates lower. GM is the same way with 3 and 4 stars , Dodge is the only one that is the same for both with 3 stars. None of them have a rating for 3/4 and 1 ton in that year.

I’m curious as to where the water leak is. Doesn’t really specify. I got the impression that the leak would be behind a panel somewhere that isn’t noticeable until the damage has been done. Almost like a water leak on an rv that you don’t notice until there’s delam.
I find the diesel one interesting. That’s during the era of DEF, when the trucks go into regen to clean the filter, they use more fuel, how bad is it that it is part of a lawsuit? When I was transporting during that time, the RAM guys always got worse fuel mileage than I did, typically about 2 MPGs, but never saw/heard of anything so extreme that it would be a lawsuit.

While no amount of money can replace a life that settlement is ludicrous. My guess, it will be in litigation for years if not decades to come and my guess would be an undisclosed settlement when the family's "itchy palms" gets the best of them.

The article doesn’t say it is, but that settlement sounds like a class action lawsuit settlement to me. I’ve never heard of such a crazy amount to be awarded to one family. How would they justify that amount. I found another article on it that’s said they were also awarded $24M in a verdict the day before for compensatory damages.

Unfortunately, Ram heavy-duty pickup trucks aren’t the only vehicles equipped with the defective CP4 fuel pump. Other auto manufacturers such as Chevrolet, Dodge, Ford, GMC, and Jeep sell diesel vehicles built with CP4 pumps.

Id say he’s just regurgitating info that’s in the lawsuit, recalls, and safety announcements. I do like how they recommend not parking in a garage, next to other vehicles or structures. I guess you’re supposed to park them out in the back 40 somewhere, but that nights start a brush fire which could
Leaf to thousands of acres burning. Maybe just park them in shallow ponds, be careful the waters not too high though, they leak too. Lol.

I've never heard anything so ridiculous as the bolded statement. I've never seen any vehicle survive a garage collapse or a"structure falling". And why not next to other vehicles? Do they spontaneously combust?
