air bags

Anybody ever use any suspension air bags? I have a 2003 Chevy Silverado 1500 Ext. Cab and a 2010 Cougar X-lite 30BHS. The vehicle tows the trailer just fine but I do notice a little bouncing. I have an anti sway bar and load leveling bars. Any info would be great.

I have Firestone air bags on my Dodge 2500. When I hitch my 5er the bed drops about 2 inches. I use the air bags to return the rear to unloaded height. It rides great and headlights are aimed properly. I recommend them for comfort but not to increase load capacity. Hope this helps. Merry Christmas, Hank ......... Welcome to the forum.

I just did a search for "Firestone Air Bags - reviews" and quickly glanced at the results. It seems that all were very positive - from the ease of installation to the final road tests with loaded pickups. The model that Hank referred to in his above post was mentioned and got very good, all-round ratings from actual road tests and by ordinary users.
Try the search - it should provide you with additional information.

My suggestion is to go with "Supersprings" the add-on leaf spring that's easy to install by yourself, I looked at air bags and talked to a few people that had them and they said that if they had it to do over again they would install Supersprings, when I asked why they said that you had to keep a minimum of 3psi in the bags at all times and then there were those that said they were afraid of getting a leak and that it was a pain to keep checking the pressure to make sure that the minimum psi was still there and that they leak down. I don't have either on my Tundra but I have looked at both and listened to others that had used both and I think that if I had to choose I would choose the Supersprings. Here's a URL for the installation of Supersprings: http://www.truckspring.com/video_1072.html my take is that the spring idea would be a lot less trouble, is easier to install, and does not come into play untill you load the bed and it needs the extra lift, so this is just one more option for you to consider, JMHO.

I have the Firestone Air Bags, I highly recommend. I keep about 10 lbs in when not towing and depending on my load I tow with 70-90 lbs.
