We took the couch out of the bunkhouse right away. It was too big; and was a pain to pullout, blow up air mattress and put bedding on. Plus DS20 wouldn't use it once the air mattress deflated on him.
We brought in mattress from home to make a daybed last summer. This winter we determined that it cost less to buy a futon than to replace the mattresses we needed back at home.
The futon is working great for the boys playing video games in the bunkhouse. It's wide enough as a couch for DS20 to sleep on as a couch; but also very easy to unfold to a full size bed. Very useful.
