I took the trailer in this morning to the dealer. Talk about some head scratching. They were all baffled. They were all looking to find some point of contact that could have caused this, but had no luck! I did not use my equilizer weight distribution system for the trip to the dealer and I am pretty sure it bent even more. With that being said, I think the trailer was saved by using the weight distribution system on its first weekend out. The service writer immediately got the manager and he said I should have called to have it flat bedded in. I called Keystone yesterday and was instructed to take it to my dealer. The dealer is going to flat bed it to their other location where they do the "heavy" stuff like this. I will keep everyone posted how this goes. The empty spot in my back yard is symbolic of the empty spot in my heart now! Its funny how things can grow on a person even when its damaged.

Got a call from Keystone today asking some general questions. They wanted to know if I had added anything like a bike rack to my bumper. Its a toyhauler so no bumper. They wanted to know if I had an aftermarket pin box. Its a travel trailer. They also wanted to know if the trailer had a generator. Yes the one you guys installed from the factory. What a joke! Most questions were appropriate but I wanted to share the 3 questions that stuck out the most. They wanted me to describe the incident which caused the damage. I coupled the trailer to my truck and drove 200 miles round trip. At least the ball is rolling, but man I miss that trailer.

Not meaning to laugh at your misfortunes but I really have to laugh with you about those particular questions asked by Keystone. Thanks for sharing.

Keystone may not be able to produce a wiring diagram, but it sure look like they have a single form for all warranty investigations regardless of whether it's a travel trailer or a fifth wheel. LOL Gotta love the "I have to mark every block" mentality......

What happened to people owning their jobs? Once upon a time people knew their jobs inside and out (I am only 33.) I know my job backwards and forwards, but that might be why I started the company.

The Keystone owner relation girl asked me if I had some time of hitch system. Yes, I have the Equilizer weight distribution system. A couple questions later, she asked if I used a stabilizing system. Yes, I have the Equilizer system. Her very next question was "what brand is your hitch and stabilizer?" Uhhhh, its Equilizer!

If you are going to work for a brand name RV manufacturer, you should probably know some of the after market products available and you should absolutely know the products that your own company produces.

I am glad you guys got a kick out of my interrogation! I must confess though, I am unnecessarily nervous about this whole warranty process. I am just fearful of the battle and the potential expense for hiring a lawyer. All I know is that I have a payment due for this trailer and it's not in my backyard.

I had a factory installed trailer hitch on my old '99 Dodge 3500 fail. Chrysler asked that I please return the hitch to them. In the meantime, they paid to have a new hitch, of my choosing, installed on my truck. They concluded that the metal used in the construction of the hitch was not up to their strength standards. This incident led to an investigation and the conclusion prompted Chrysler to issue a massive recall to remove and replace trailer hitches on their trucks spanning a couple of years. Some long time Dodge owners may remember this recall. My point is, people sometimes still own their mistakes. That free ownership is what sells your next product to a return customer. That being said, I've been driving Dodge Trucks for almost thirty years now. I hope that they choose to do the right thing in your particular case. You are a young man who has many years of buying potential ahead of himself. I would like to think that Keystone would have some appreciation for providing service that would make you a thirty plus years customer.

As hard as it will be stay cool don't talk lawyer or they will stop talking altogether. If you don't seem to be getting anywhere, ask to speak to customer relations not customer service. I had a problem with a 2008 5'r after all was said and done they gave me a 2011 to replace it. If i knew how to PM you I do have an E-mail address to manager of customer realtions.

To send a Private Message (PM), just click on the member's name in the top left hand corner of the post and click on "Send a private message to ......". A new page will appear with a message box similar to the boxes you see on the regular forum. Not difficult.

Thanks for the advice. I am a cheap SOB and a lawyer is the last thing I want to pay for!

I called the owners realtion girl today and she informed me that my dealer had submitted more pictures. She said no decision had been made yet and offered to call me once a decision is made. I told her thanks for the offer, but I will call you tomorrow. I do feel that Keystone and my dealer are doing their parts. I am cheap and impatient!

Week #3 and Keystone still has not made any decisions. The service department still has not been authorized to start any repairs yet. Their words were they are still trying to determine the cause of the failure. The first 2 weeks I called once a day. Today I started calling twice a day and sensed some irritation. They told me I need to stay in touch with my service adviser and I replied with saying my service adviser is waiting for Keystones decision. I get this nasty suspicion that a lawyer is going to be in my future.

I jumped the gun a little. I called my service adviser today and they have torn the front of the trailer apart in search of the cause of the failure. The front portion of the body was not screwed down to the chassis. The body essentially acted like a hammer and the A-Frame was the week link. The body screws missed the chassis by 1/4". The service adviser had a fabricator come in today to create a cost for repairs. Once the fabricator submits to the service department, the service department can submit to Keystone for approval.

So from what I was told today, Keystone assemblers were at fault for this one and not Lippert Chassis.

Glad to hear things are starting to come together. I do believe Keystone will make it right. When I had my problem several years ago it took awhile but they did the right thing. Keep us updated, as I still have an e-mail address.

I heard from my service advisor today. It sounded like Keystone authorized the warranty work. However, Keystone requested that the trailer be torn down a little further back to insure that the body is mounted correctly. I suspect everything will be fine, but that sure could be a can of worms. This is week 4 and probably have a couple more weeks to go.

Better for them to open that can of worms than for them to crawl out on you. Good luck. I think this will end well.

I think you are all right that things will work out just fine. I certainly hope they unveil the can of worms on their watch because I do not want to lose my trailer for this long again. The weather has been perfect for riding and this is getting very frustrating for me. I have some parts sitting on desk for this trailer waiting to be installed. I have a horrible habit of modifying things.
