Passport Sewer hose holder

Fairly easy mod to hold a 20’ sewer hose since there is not a rear bumper. I used L shaped brackets from the hardware store and screwed them to the frame with the Valterra provided screws in the kit. I kept the tube about 1/2” off the frame so it doesn’t vibrate on the underbelly or frame.

Looks good. Did you check behind where you screwed in? My black tank is in that location. Mine doesn’t have the bumper either, but it came with two short Valtera storage tubes mounted parallel to the frame. I have never needed more than one standard length hose but should that change I can store a second hose. If I ever need to carry a really long hose though, I like your idea!

Tube

Will this tube hold the Rhino-Flex hose or is it too small in diameter like many others?

That is a good looking storage tube with what looks like a secure cap — and with a safety line. The square bumper types with the push-on caps are a sad excuse.

The bumper is the worst spot to store your hose. The rust inside WILL rub holes the length of the hose which isn't pleasant when draining the black tank.

I just added this to my 5er last weekend. Much more sturdy than I thought it would be. I did have to build a spacer to drop it down some as I have a propane line that runs under the frame rail. Not a big issue at all and excited to have a little more room in the front storage.

I like the mod. Very sleek and easily accessible. I just keep my sewer hose in a dedicated storage bin, which stays in the rear storage compartment. I wash the hose before disconnecting it each time and wash out the bin every few uses. My dedicated "sewer" gloves are stored on top of the bin. Am i the only one that doesn't keep their sewer hose in a tube or in their rear bumper? Just curious.

I mounted a super slider hose carrier under the trailer. It holds the 10 and 5 foot hoses easily. The trailer has the 4 inc square bumper but as has been pointed out the just rust inside and shred the hose.

I like it. My camper already have a lockable factory installed one in the back area. But I'm thinking of drilling holes on both of the covers to let fresh air in to help dry up hose and maybe prevent mildew.

Good job on the mod!

from Oregon...… nice install.
I'm a fan of macerators and only need to store a garden hose.

I've always kept my hoses in a storage bin, but wanted to reclaim some space for other things I really don't need. Out of all of the 'hook up' items I have, the sewer hoses are the most bulky items, so moving them out seemed like a good idea for my use case.

The one thing that I will never bring into the camper is the sewer hose,. Doesn't matter if it's in a storage bin, in a bag, or anything else. And yes, I consider all the storage space within the 4 exterior walls of the camper as being inside the camper. I maybe overly cautious but I don't care to test our immune systems. Just my opinion.

Same with me. If I didn't have the plastic post cover hung under the trailer, I'd be buying a new hose after every camping setup....

Nice job. I wonder how keeping the tube off the base over time? Mine sags and is about 26 months old.

Been waiting for an idea

Agree to disagree John. Different strokes and all that. A bin that has a rubber seal and clamps shut on 2 ends seems as well enough sealed if not better than a tube but, I digress. Ive always done my own thing. No disrespect intended. My FIL was a safety expert before he was called home. He also hated the little "covers" people put on their toothbrushes. Called them "dark enclosed well moistened petri dishes." I concur. 😁

You're certainly free to put your sewer hose anywhere in, under or over your trailer. All the "plastic bins" that I've seen have 4 or 5 "weep holes" at both handles. What that means is anything "sealed inside the plastic bin" is exposed to the outside as well as the inside... I've seen (and smelled) many RV passthroughs that sat in the sun with the sewer hose "sealed" in a plastic bin. After a couple weeks in the sun in 100F weather, the passthrough smells just like the contents of the storage bin. It only takes "keystone's keen eye for detail" to overlook a significant air leak from the passthrough (located directly under your pillow) and you're sleeping with the stench.....

So, yes, this is one we'll just agree to disagree on....

Depends on the bin. 😁 Neither of us will change and I always appreciate your help. Happy camping John. 👍
