Water hook up order

So this may show how green I am but...

For water hook up what is the right sequence from the sites water connection with hose/pressure regulator/in line filter into camper

I use the pressure regulator at the source. Attach the hose to the regulator then the filter at the end of the hose to the city water inlet on the Cougar. A 90 degree elbow on the city supply inlet allows me to attach the filter inside the convenience center. Hose drops straight down through the access hole. Very neat and easy!

Thats what I was thinking. Except my city supply inlet is just on outside of camper

If it's more convenient, you can always attach the filter to the regulator then the hose.
I've found at times the supply is too close to the ground to facilitate the filter. That's why I set ours up the way I did.
I think one of these would still work on the side of the trailer if needed.

Our city water inlet is also on the side of the trailer, right next to the fresh water tank gravity fill. I use a 90 degree adapter (as shown above), a 4' hose from the adapter to the filter, hang the filter assembly on the rear bumper, slightly under the trailer (to shade it from the sun's heat) and then run the hose to the campground faucet where I attach the regulator to the faucet and my hose to the regulator. Doing it that way, protects the entire system (my equipment) from high pressure, shades the filter (but not the hose) from the sun, and prevents any "twisting/bending" forces on the "cheap plastic" city water connection on the side of the trailer.

It's best to hang the majority of the weight from the water source & less from the rv connection which is usually a plastic fitting.
Also would recommend a real regulator, see picture, rather than the cheapo restrictor that the dealer may have provided.

I run from the trailer the 90°, the small white hose that came with filter, then the filter to the regulator then to the hose, to a valved "T" to the supply post.

I've rebuilt many commercial pressure regulators, the sediment filter prior to the regulator greatly extends the regulator's life.

Every connection except at the hydrant I use a quick connect fitting.

I have a .5 micron carbon block filter and the kitchen sink for drinking water.

Only reason I would run the regulator FIRST is I have been to campgrounds that have 75+ PSI and I don’t want that much pressure on my nice drinking water safe hose. To each their own.

A little different here. First, I've camped in a lot of CGs where the spigot it close to the ground. I don't like the regulator that close to the ground.

Typically I'll use a good "Y" connector first, a "good" one is valves that are a min. 1/2" openings so no restriction. Many of the inexpensive, even the brass, "Y" connections will only have a 3/8" or even a 1/4" opening in the ball valve. A pressure gauge on one side and the drinking water on the other. Drinking water hose turned off, gauge on to first check pressure. Will remove gauge for dedicated blank tank flush hose before leaving.

Hose goes to camper with a 10" filter mounted to the side of the camper that's removable. The regulator (as depicted earlier) on the intake side, a short hose on the output side to the camper connection. A 90 deg elbow on the intake side prevents strain and the filter holder prevents the strain from being an issue on the filter.

Camco one, so that might be part of the problem, but hard to adjust when the needle can't move.

You should be able to buy a replacement gauge at most welding shops/good, well stocked plumbing supply houses. Otherwise, with a "camco regulator" it may be cheaper to just toss it and buy a new regulator... If I were doing the second, it would NOT be another camco..... Just sayin'

FWIW, we go regulator-filter-hose.

Our seasonal campgound water sucks - filter before main hose helps keep hose clean, too.

Also, we have the Culligan filter canister - the replacements are much less on Amazon, and it's better than the Camco disposable!

This is my set-up at the trailer end. At the faucet end I have a valved wye fitting (Garden hose splitter) on the spigot, then my pressure regulator then my hose to a valve then the filter, then another valve, then a brass 90° fitting.

Why all that? Read on!

The valved wye allows me to bleed off line pressure so I don’t get wet disconnecting. The pressure regulator so my hose and everything after is safe. The first valve so I can isolate/disconnect the hose or the filter if I want. The second valve for the same reason, plus I can flush the hose before I connect to RV, or a simple 90° twist and water is off if we are gone for the day. Finally, 90° brass fitting to relieve strain on all that weight hanging off the connection fitting. Overkill? Maybe, but it makes my life a lot less complicated.

yup good idea to have regulator with gauge to verify pressure. My water connection is outside the TT, little plastic connection. I dont want any weight hanging. So i do the 90 then the hose hanging straight down. I've seen some 45's and some just connect hose straight into there. Not the best way IMHO.

I too use a Y first off the CG hose connection. I have a short hose i use on one side, for washing off feet or what ever. The other side then connects as mentioned.
