Question Accordion Door Replacement

Calling all DIY'ers ...

I am very close to purchasing a 2014 Keystone Bullet Premiere 31BHPR however, there are accordion doors going into the master and rear bunkie rooms. Does anyone have experience replacing the accordion door with pocket doors that would slide behind the entertainment centre for the master?

Thanks in advance!

Anything is possible. Just depends on how much you want to fabricate. Solid wood supports need to be added for the track assembly. And then the doors need to be trimmed out so they match the interior decor. IMO, sliding pocket doors generally dont offer any more privacy or noise reduction vs accordian style doors. Accordions will offer a bit more weight reduction. Aesthetics are nicer with solid (but hollow) doors but that's about all. If I had the collapsible style, I would just keep them. Flavors vary though.

Welcome to the forum
Have you measured the opening and then the wall where it would retract into? Once you’ve determined that there is enough depth, then you have to determine if the wall is “hollow” or has studs for the wall panels to be stapled to.

If all the above conditions are met, then you’ll need to open up the wall to install the track for the door to open/close. You will have to apply edge trim at the opening, and put the wall panels back on without damage.

Can it be done? Probably, would I do it? Probably not. It’s not going to increase the value enough for all the work needed IMO, YMMV.
