What kind of outdoor BBQ/stove do you use?

When we bought our camper we did not get an outside kitchen which I regret. They gave me a little Coleman lp grill with a thin metal grate that just doesn't get it done. I didn't care because we were right at or over payload. Since we've upgraded trucks I want to take enough stuff to keep me out of the kitchen and cooking outside.

I envision a small portable table, maybe 2'x4', a charcoal grill and a gas grill. Will cook breakfast etc. on the gas grill and other stuff on the charcoal grill. The grills would have to have stands or a table.

Instead of trying to scour the internet to find something I thought I would throw that out to the members and see if I could get to a shortlist quicker. What you're using or have used. What made you happy (worked) or didn't. Any/all suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I have used a Camp Chef for at least ten years now. Griddle covers 2 burners and I can cook anything on it. I bought the bbq box that covers the third burner for tri tip, chicken etc. I also have the camp chef oven with 2 burners on top.

It's a rare thing for me to cook inside the trailer.

Weber Q is the only portable bbq I have found that truly chars meat. The rest cook OK but just not hot enough to give that great grill taste.

Gas.

Get a Weber if you are using it for steaks, etc. Doesn't have an oven feature but great for "BBQing".

We used to "car" camp back before they invented travel trailers

I have a couple of different set-ups depending on what I plan to cook. Bare minimum is a Coleman Grill/Stove combo, it gets hooked to an LP tree on a 20# tank that sits in a milk crate. I have a Camp Chef stove/oven, dutch ovens, gas stoves, charcoal grills and have my eye on a Weber Q. If we are camping where fires are allowed and they have decent fire pits cooking on charcoal or hot embers is what I prefer, with the gas to for backup. If fires are not allowed or not encouraged I break out the gas rigs. If I had to hazard a guess I would say I have 300# of outdoor cooking gear. FWIW I have camped with people that bring deep fryers, turkey fryers, microwaves etc. to each their own.

Camp Chef here, with the griddle, and barbecue box. Basically does it all.

Weber Q (200 series) for me. Wouldn't be without it.

I've used it as an oven too...just put a layer of foil on the grate.

We use the 'NexGrill' from Costco. S.S. 20,000 BTU dual burner. Grills meat just fine. $109.00 3 years ago.

Weber Q gas grill and the white folding table from Costco that is roughly 2x6', folding in half to 2x3'. QD hoses for both feeding off the trailer and one with a regulator for a 20# bottle.

I've read some other posts on the forum and did a little research. I know there are lots of Weber Q fans and one of the posts on another thread said it was the only one that would sear meat well. Looking at the specs it appears all Weber Qs have a 12,000 btu heat source. One of the reasons I don't like my current little grill is because it just puts out 11,000 btu and it takes forever to cook. The Coleman LXE puts out 20,000 and the Camp Chef 3 burner is something like 90,000. As many folks that love the Weber I'm thinking it uses its 12,000 btu's better than my little 11,000 unit. Any thoughts? I'm going to get something in the next couple of weeks before we leave for FL.

Have a Weber but the wife loves to cook with the Dutch oven setup. Talk about a lot of work. It makes her happy so I wag the stuff around.

There is more to BBQ's than BTU's. Webers, gas or charcoal, will not propagate flames with the lid down unlike other BBQ's. I have three Q's and two Weber charcoal kettles. Nothing cooks like a Weber...at least in my fanatical, BBQing opinion.

A bear once semi-destroyed one of my Q's. Weber sent me replacement parts free of charge even though it was out of warranty. They have my loyalty for a multitude of reasons.

I cooked hamburgers on my new Q grill the other day and had to turn it on low to keep from burning them. I know it will cook a steak just fine but a little worried about using it to cook a roast or pulled pork as it doesn't want to go below about 350 degrees even on the lowest setting. I was hoping to use a wood smoke box and cook at 275 deg. but that may not be possible. Still a very well made grill. I just can't bring myself to pay $650.00 for a mini green egg.
