WiFi Boosters

We stay at a campground with WiFi but my laptop barely works and the signal is two bars. Who uses a WiFi booster and how does it work?

You can find my post on this subject in the link that B&T gave. I have been using an antenna from JEFATECH that I am very pleased with. It's great for a laptop but you might want to consider a repeater if you plan to use a smartphone also. There are several solutions out there, Hank

I looked at this post 3 or 4 times and it didn't answer my question.

Looks like most are using a Jefa Teck "Rubber Ducky" antenna.

Sorry about the off topic link -- deleted it

I opted for the Long Range WiFi Repeater Kit for RVs at:

http://www.jefatech.com/product/RV-KIT-REPEATER

Since we have numerous devices that we connect to the internet, this was the obvious choice. At one favorite CG we get only one code to access their wifi. Using our Jefatech repeater we can connect all our devices. I've been able to get service a quarter mile away.

Yes I did look at all those OLD links that others have been using for 2 or 3 year. I'm asking if anyone has any up to date info. Last years laptop is out dated, yesterdays I-phone is out . There is new products out every day
, but thanks for your advise.

OK, Jefa Teck "Rubber Ducky" antenna good with a 1/4 mile range. Thank you for the advise.
Not trying to be a jerk, but a little more then I wanted to spend. Theres a lot of links out there about weatherproofing inside antennas. Anyone try?

I use a linksys WRT54g router that I've flashed with ddwrt and put it in wireless bridge mode with signal strength set to max. It takes some work to get it setup at each stop (finding out which channel to set it, which mode (b/g/mixed) etc. and not as good as it could be since no outside antenna and box has to be reconfigured at each place, but since I got the router on closeout...

Resurrecting an older thread but I read all the other threads referenced as well.

If I was interested in the Bear Extender, do I have to buy one for my laptop and one for DH's laptop?

If I was interested in the JEFA Tech system, again do I have to buy 2 of them?

I'm ignorant of the technology - I'm just a user.

Thanks!

Do not know about the bear extender.

With the Jefa Tech Long Range WiFi Repeater Kit for RVs you can connect all your devices through the one kit. using mine now for two laptops and two smart phones.

I like the WiFiRanger products. I have a WiFiRanger Go repeater/amplifier/router and a WiFiRanger Mobile external antenna and amplifier. Attached to the Go router is a Verizon MiFi modem. In this manner, I can use the campground WiFi, or any available WiFi within about a half-mile or more, plus use the Verizon MiFi for more secure connections and Amazon Prime streaming. The Go router has the router firewall and NAT securities, and allows me to connect all my laptops and printers to one secure network and only one "link" reaching out from the RV. Admittedly, this may be a little pricey for some, but it is well worth it for what I need.

I have no connection or representation to and for WiFiRanger, but their website is www.wifiranger.com.

2014 Wifi ranger

I see that Wifi Ranger has a newer product line "Sky Wifi" http://www.wifiranger.com/rv-wifi

It looks like you just screw it on top or the outside of your camper...

I'll be calling them tomorrow morning...

Heading to Fun Valley this July and need some type of "Cantenna" equivalent... I have the flagpole ready to accept an antenna...

Can anyone speak to the newer model?

I looked at JEFA but that is last year's model and does not work with the newer N and 5 wifi specs...
